Chapter Sixteen: The Terrifying Sunlight, Your Aunt Steals Blood to Nourish You!

The first light of dawn appeared. As daybreak illuminated the earth, the sun rose from the east, leaping over the horizon, and a brand new day began. The once desolate streets were now bustling with cattle and horses coming and going.
In the courtyard, Qin Feng was still studying Daoist magic with his aunt. Yet, he felt uneasy all over, though he couldn't pinpoint exactly where the discomfort came from. Perhaps it was because it was morning. He found the night to be more comfortable, full of energy and spirit. Now, he felt listless, as if he had stayed up for several nights in a row.
"Feng'er, this is all I know for now. You’ve already mastered everything I taught you. The sky is bright; I need to return to my room for some rest. You can take your time to familiarize yourself with the hand seals and incantations," Mu Ruxue yawned, her eyes heavy with sleep.
"Alright, Auntie, thank you for your hard work," Qin Feng said affectionately, looking tenderly at Mu Ruxue. She was always good to him, unlike that despicable Liu Xue. Just thinking of Liu Xue stirred uncontrollable hatred within him. He longed for nightfall, so he could seek revenge on that wretched woman and on Li Bufan. They must pay with their lives. Ideally, he wanted to turn them into zombies, condemning them to eternal unrest, never to reincarnate. Once turned into a zombie, the soul would vanish, and without a soul, there could be no rebirth.
Suppressing his rage, Qin Feng’s ten fingers bloomed like lotus flowers, deftly forming various hand seals. It was hard to believe that a zombie could form seals so swiftly. Judging by the hand seals alone, he was undoubtedly a Daoist magician!
"If it weren’t for my long fingernails getting in the way, I could probably form seals even faster," Qin Feng thought as he withdrew his hands. His nails were too long and seriously hampered his speed.
"According to Auntie, to cast spells, besides hand seals and incantations, one must also coordinate footwork. Some techniques even require talismans. For now, my hands can move freely, but my legs cannot. I wonder when my legs will be as agile as my hands. Even if I can’t cast spells then, I’ll at least be able to perform footwork techniques," he mused.
With that thought, Qin Feng glanced at the sealed window. It was still morning, and the sunlight was gentle enough to allow him to cautiously extend a finger to test if he feared the sunlight.
He stood and moved to the window, carefully lifting the blanket just a little.

A trapezoid beam of sunlight streamed inside. He timidly extended the index finger of his right hand toward it.
“Sizzle!” The moment his fingernail touched the sunlight, a sharp corrosive sound rang out, accompanied by thick black smoke. The fingernail melted rapidly before his eyes.
Startled, Qin Feng quickly withdrew his finger. Staring at the half-melted, crescent-shaped nail, he was inwardly shaken. The power was terrifying. In just an instant, the sharp nail had melted into a semicircle. Had it been his finger, it surely would have been injured.
He quickly covered the window again. With nothing to do during the day and afraid to go outside, Qin Feng had no choice but to pass the time practicing hand seals and incantations. He regretted not asking Auntie to leave her phone behind so he could play with it.
On the bright side, becoming a zombie meant no more working to earn money. No mortgages, no car loans, no need to slave away to support a family.
As time ticked by, night finally fell and the city lights flickered on.
“Ha!” Qin Feng stood in the courtyard, gazing upward at the moonlight, exhaling a dense breath of corpse aura. The moonlight bathed him warmly, a sensation of pure comfort.
“Whoosh, whoosh...” Streams of moonlight essence, invisible to the naked eye, surged into his body like moths drawn to a flame as he opened and closed his corpse-like mouth.
“Feng’er.” At that moment, Mu Ruxue stepped out of the room, dressed anew. She wore a yellow Daoist robe and carried two swords on her back: a peachwood sword and a copper coin sword. Her hair was neatly pinned up with a hairpin, giving her a tidy and capable appearance. Yet, the loose robe could not conceal her fiery figure.
“Auntie, you look amazing and so cool in that outfit,” Qin Feng said, turning to admire her.
“I’m almost thirty, not exactly pretty anymore,” Mu Ruxue pouted but smiled happily. After all, who among women doesn't like being complimented?
“By the way, Auntie, how’s your injury healing?” Qin Feng asked with concern.
“To fully recover, it’ll take at least half a year, unless I get my hands on some rare medicinal materials or healing pills. Unfortunately, those are hard to come by,” Mu Ruxue said casually, smiling. “But my injury isn’t the real issue. The key is you—you must quickly increase your strength. Although we’re hiding in the city, sooner or later, the One Yang Sect will discover us. You stay here and rest; I’ll go out to steal some blood for you.”
“No, Auntie! Your injury hasn’t healed yet,” Qin Feng hurriedly stopped her.
Mu Ruxue stepped forward, tidying his clothes carefully. Smiling, she said, “Don’t worry. Last time I was careless, but this time, nothing will happen.”
“But...” Qin Feng began.
Mu Ruxue raised a slender jade-like finger to gently cover his mouth. “I promise you, I will return safely. You have to trust me.”
With a playful look, she blinked her big, sparkling eyes. “Feng’er, goodbye. Auntie is going out to steal blood to nourish you.”
“Auntie, please be careful,” Qin Feng said, watching her resolve.
He didn’t want her to take risks on his behalf. Ordinary blood wouldn’t boost his power much, and it was dangerous. He didn’t want her to endanger herself for him.
After Mu Ruxue left, Qin Feng summoned his seven zombie subordinates. He absorbed the moonlight essence with his head raised while the seven zombies fed on the corpse aura emanating from him.
He planned to seek revenge on Liu Xue and Li Bufan at midnight when the streets were deserted. For now, it was just nightfall, and the city was still crowded. With his current appearance, he couldn’t roam openly. Though he wasn’t afraid of ordinary people, he feared word might spread. That would attract not only the One Yang Sect but also disciples from other sects.
About two hours later,
“Boom… boom boom...” One after another, the seven zombie subordinates advanced in their breakthroughs, their pace no slower than Qin Feng’s blood absorption breakthrough.
One zombie had reached the late Black Zombie stage. This one was naturally a steward from the One Yang Sect. It was unclear whether it was due to its strength or something else, but it had already reached the early Black Zombie stage upon transformation. The others had only reached the early White Zombie stage.
Now, there was one late Black Zombie, four early Black Zombies, and two late White Zombies. The zombies’ strength was steadily increasing. Once their numbers and powers grew enough, they would become truly useful.
Soon, unbeknownst to Qin Feng, the clock struck midnight.
At this hour, Qin Feng felt immensely comfortable, his strength peaking.
After sending the seven zombies back to the room, he leapt out of the courtyard.
