Chapter 22: Second Advancement Success! New Ice-Type Skill!
Outside the gates of Canglan City.
Lin Yi found a secluded spot to land. In all of the Great Xia’s base cities, flight is strictly prohibited without special authorization. He had acted too impulsively earlier, taking off in front of such a large crowd. Now that he needed to enter the city to use the teleportation array to return to Jiangcheng, he naturally wanted to avoid any unnecessary trouble.
Just as Lin Yi touched the ground, he saw two streaks of light—one red and one green—soaring through the sky at incredible speed and disappearing into Canglan City.
Lin Yi: "..."
Damn! Why do they get to fly like that!
High above, Qi Guoguang seemed to sense something. He glanced downward inadvertently. With magic power flowing through his eyes, he quickly spotted Lin Yi hiding below the city gate.
Hm?
Why does this person give me such an incredibly familiar feeling... But for a moment, he couldn't quite place it.
Soon, a flicker of surprise crossed Qi Guoguang’s mind. He remembered. The faint magical fluctuations radiating from the ordinary-looking, albeit handsome, youth below were seven or eight parts similar to the magical imprint he had sensed at the scene in the Land of Dead Silence!
Qi Guoguang slowed his flight. Driven by curiosity, he cast an appraisal spell on the youth below. In an instant, Lin Yi’s class and level appeared before him.
Qi Guoguang shook his head. It seemed he had overthought it. A level 30 professional who hadn't even completed his second advancement—even if he was a mage—could never cast a seventh-tier spell. Without another glance at Lin Yi, Qi Guoguang accelerated and flew away.
The gap in strength between Lin Yi and Qi Guoguang was simply too vast, a complete suppression in terms of level and attributes. Thus, even though Qi Guoguang had used an appraisal spell on him, Lin Yi remained oblivious.

In the conference hall of the Canglan City Professionals’ Alliance.
Thud! Thud!
The sound of knees hitting the floor echoed through the room. Chen Feng and Qi Guoguang looked at the large group of Canglan City officials kneeling before them, still pouring out their gratitude, and didn't quite know what to say.
"President Hu, what are you doing?" Chen Feng, who was the one officially dispatched to handle this crisis, quickly moved to help up Hu Weizhen, the president of the Canglan City Professionals’ Association.
Hu Weizhen was the one who, after the alienated undead knight appeared, had cursed out his deputy and immediately ordered the evacuation of the masses and a city-wide alert.
"I don't know how to thank you both. I can only bow on behalf of the thousands of citizens of Canglan to express our gratitude!" As he spoke, Hu Weizhen truly intended to continue kowtowing.
To be honest, his gratitude was genuine. The ecstatic relief of having survived a disaster was even more so. Because this incident had been resolved so quickly, there were no casualties and no economic losses. Furthermore, his own response had been textbook-perfect. If nothing went wrong, once these two big shots returned to Tianhai, he would likely be commended for his performance.
"President Hu, you have all misunderstood."
"Sigh, Elder Qi and I rushed here with the fastest possible speed."
"But by the time we arrived, it was already over."
"That alienated undead knight world boss was killed by an unknown expert."
Qi Guoguang had remained silent, but his status was higher than Chen Feng’s, a fact immediately obvious to the Canglan City officials present. That he remained silent now only confirmed that he agreed with what Chen Feng had said.
Chen Feng had been honest primarily because, at his level, he no longer cared for such trivial merits. Moreover, with a true heavyweight like Qi Guoguang standing beside him, if he had forcefully claimed the credit, even if Qi Guoguang wouldn't expose him out of respect for his father, he would still owe him a favor. At their level, favors were the hardest debts to repay.
Hu Weizhen and the other officials of Canglan City were left utterly bewildered after a moment of thought.
Huh? So, you didn't kill the boss? Then who did? How could Canglan possibly have such a terrifyingly powerful expert?

On the other side, Lin Yi presented his student ID and entered Canglan City once more.
As soon as he entered, he heard the announcement over the loudspeakers declaring that the alert had been lifted. At the same time, countless military professionals clad in armor were beaming with joy. As for the pedestrians on the street, they were teary-eyed, hugging and weeping. No one had expected that just a moment ago, the city had been on the brink of disaster, only for the alarm to be instantly lifted, sparing them from evacuation. For many professionals who had been too rushed to see their wives or children, being reunited with their families was the greatest happiness in life.
Lin Yi watched, feeling rather confused. What had happened? In less than half an hour, how had the atmosphere of Canglan shifted from impending doom to this?
However, this didn't stop him from heading straight for the Canglan City teleportation hall. Lin Yi took out his phone; this time he was smarter and bought a ticket for the first-class hall.
Mission accomplished; it was time to return to Jiangcheng to turn it in. Lin Yi had actually wanted to complete his class advancement in Canglan City, but when he passed by the Advancement Sanctuary, he noticed it had been used as an air-raid shelter. It was packed with ordinary people and professionals, noisy and chaotic; it would certainly take some time for normal operations to resume.
Lin Yi walked into the luxurious first-class hall, and the teleportation array began to glow. A moment later, his figure vanished.
This time, the teleportation experience was smooth as silk. The scenery outside was still bizarre and kaleidoscopic, but the violent, nauseating spinning sensation was greatly reduced. For this reason, the others teleporting with him didn't have much of a reaction either. At least there wouldn't be the smell of vomit in the air like last time...
In less than half a minute, Lin Yi felt his feet touch solid ground again. The scenery shifted, and he was back in the familiar teleportation hall of Jiangcheng.
Walking out of the hall, Lin Yi headed straight for the Advancement Sanctuary.
"Ha~" Li Yiyi yawned. She took off her glasses and rubbed her sore, tired eyes, glancing at the clock on the wall. It was already 11:30 AM. Only half an hour left until she could get off work. She had met a handsome guy today, chatted with him a bit, and spent the whole morning slacking off—this shift had been worth it!
Thinking this, Li Yiyi put her glasses back on, only to see that same handsome face standing right in front of her.
"I'm here to turn in my mission," Lin Yi said simply.
Li Yiyi was stunned. Holy crap! Handsome, didn't we just see each other an hour and a half ago? How did you finish it so fast?!
"Ah... ah! Okay!"
"Please, follow me!"
Soon, Li Yiyi led Lin Yi into a room housing the advancement spirit crystal. Lin Yi approached the crystal and touched it with both hands.
A notification echoed in his mind.
[Ding! A completed advancement mission has been detected. Would you like to submit it?]
Lin Yi chose to submit.
The next moment, a magic circle lit up beneath his feet, and a flash of white light swept over him.
