The woman known as the Great Beauty of Black University wore her usual indigo robe and black hat, her face hidden behind a white veil. Yet from her eyes, it was clear she was furious, though her temperament prevented her from uttering any harsh retorts.

“Liu Xueliang, stop being shameless. Who said we were classmates?”

Beside her, A Kui stepped forward, blocking the way and pointing at Liu Xueliang’s nose, berating him: “Our Xiaoxiao has said it before—she’s not interested in dating you. Stop having people wait for her at the entrance of the neighborhood!”

At this moment, A Kui was both angry and bitter, itching to slap Liu Xueliang. In reality, Liu Xueliang kept harassing Xiaoxiao, even going so far as to send people to the neighborhood entrance to block her openly. Unable to escape him, Xiaoxiao had taken to playing games partly to avoid him, only for him to pursue her relentlessly—even in the game, she found no peace.

But neither A Kui nor the woman in indigo dared to act; they could only endure it. Otherwise, if their levels dropped, what would happen to that B+ quest?

Seeing Liu Xueliang’s irritating face, the woman’s gaze sharpened like a blade. Yet the more she glared, the more excited Liu Xueliang became. If he could get such an ice-cold beauty in bed, he’d feel like he was in heaven.

“Ah!”

Just as Liu Xueliang was lost in his fantasy, nearly drooling, a scream erupted behind him. He choked on his own saliva and spun around hastily.

One of his teammates had been felled by an arrow through the neck, collapsing to the ground. Dozens of meters away, a ranger stood with bow drawn, aiming at them.

“This brat must have a death wish! Daring to PK? Get him!” Liu Xueliang shouted in anger. How could a lowly ranger dare to attack first?

Without waiting for his orders, several melee players charged forward, weapons in hand. The remaining ranger stayed back, shooting arrows, while a mage further behind began chanting spells. Blue light swirled as the mage prepared to unleash the basic offensive spell, Ice Spike.

The ranger was, of course, Lu Kuan.

Liu Xueliang was “skilled” in harassing female players; he knew his actions wouldn’t lead to a system penalty, but would still count as harassment, placing both sides automatically in PK mode.

After joining A Kui’s team, Lu Kuan’s attack on Liu Xueliang was considered legitimate retaliation by the system, not malicious PK.

Since he’d already acted, Lu Kuan would not let his opponents turn the tables.

As several players gave chase, Lu Kuan retreated nimbly, drawing and releasing arrows as he moved. Bone-shattering arrowheads whistled through the air, grazing their scalps.

Liu Xueliang laughed, ready to mock the “idiotic” ranger’s marksmanship, when another scream sounded behind him—the mage who’d been preparing to cast spells had taken an arrow squarely to the forehead, collapsing with a strange cry, the spell interrupted.

As for the other ranger, his arrows landed over ten meters away from Lu Kuan, who ignored him completely.

“Talk about sheer luck!” The same thought crossed the minds of Liu Xueliang’s team.

At this point, Liu Xueliang charged straight at Lu Kuan, who merely smirked in disdain. A rogue charging head-on without stealth? This battle was easier than expected.

“Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!”

Lu Kuan kept his distance, firing arrows as he retreated. His agile steps did not affect his aim in the slightest, as he led Liu Xueliang and his group in wide circles.

Their fury and resolve to catch Lu Kuan quickly gave way to confusion.

“Boss! This guy’s attack power is way too high—the mage is already down!” Someone noticed that the teammate’s icon had suddenly gone gray in the party list, killed instantly by Lu Kuan’s arrow.

“Damn! How is he so accurate...”

Soon, screams erupted one after another. Two members fell without even touching Lu Kuan’s clothes.

By now, the two sides were close. Liu Xueliang fixed a vicious stare on the agile ranger, soon realizing he looked familiar.

“Lu Kuan? It’s you!”

Liu Xueliang suddenly recognized him, pointing and cursing: “You dare attack me? I’ll kill you, just wait...”

“Whoosh!”

Lu Kuan’s answer was a lightning-fast arrow that pierced Liu Xueliang’s leather armor and lodged in his shoulder, making him shudder with pain.

Lu Kuan sneered, firing a stunning shot to halt the enemy warrior’s charge, then a bone-shattering arrow to knock down another rogue. He turned and ran, repeating the process several times, until nearly all six of Liu Xueliang’s team were dead.

Spectators watched in shock as Lu Kuan toyed with the group as if walking a dog. No one had ever seen—or imagined—a ranger could PK like this.

“Shooting arrows while running? Must be auto-targeting...”

“What’s going on? Is he an NPC?”

“Damn, I must be playing a fake ranger…”

Liu Xueliang, now pierced through the shoulder and with an arrow in his right knee, could only stare helplessly at the proud Lu Kuan standing a few meters away.

“Just you wait! When we leave the internet café, I’ll break both your legs!” Liu Xueliang felt utterly humiliated, disgraced by the poor youth he usually looked down upon.

Lu Kuan smiled disdainfully, drew an arrow, pulled his bow to full draw, and shot through Liu Xueliang’s throat. A massive “-32!” appeared above his head as his body dissolved into a beam of white light.

The last two teammates didn’t hesitate—they turned and fled, terrified by the helplessness of being dominated by long-range attacks.

Lu Kuan, uninterested in PK, let them escape, checking for dropped loot as he turned to the two girls: “Didn’t you do your class quests? Why are you in the Green Hills?”

Still stunned, the two hesitated before A Kui answered, “Oh… The class quests are too difficult, and there are too many competitors right now. We thought we’d come here while it’s quiet to gather twinleaf herbs and sell them.”

Lu Kuan nodded. Their choice was wise; lacking the strength, forcing themselves into class quests would only waste time.

He calmly picked up a few copper coins and a pair of plain gloves, then said to the girls, “Alright, let’s hurry back.”

They readily agreed. The road back to the city was beautiful, with gentle breezes over rolling hills and clear skies, though neither the woman in indigo nor A Kui could calm their hearts.

On the way, A Kui thanked Lu Kuan gratefully. He merely waved it off. After a moment, A Kui tentatively asked, “Old Deer, from what Liu Xueliang said earlier, you two know each other?”

Lu Kuan nodded, “Yes, same school, different classes.”

“Will… will he cause trouble for you?” The usually silent woman in indigo couldn’t help but ask, her tone a little anxious.
