Chapter Twenty-Three: The Crimson Peaks of the Demon Clan
The great demon Chifeng was the illegitimate child of the Divine Phoenix and a member of the demon race. The Firewind clan refused to acknowledge him, so the demon race took him in and raised him. He mastered both wind and fire magic, making him a formidable figure.
Orphaned at a young age, his temper became volatile and he repeatedly caused trouble, earning punishment from both the immortals and the gods. Back in the day, Jiang Lan had helped this brat a few times because of her mother.
A massive tornado of fire burst forth from the bag, carrying with it a bare-chested man. His short, black hair was streaked with red, and as Jiang Lan watched, the flames seemed about to catch her own hair. Without hesitation, she punched him squarely.
“I, Chifeng, have finally...” Chifeng clutched his face, his eyes nearly spitting fire as he stared fixedly at the mortal at his feet. “How dare you hit me!”
Jiang Lan gave him another punch.
Clutching both cheeks, Chifeng sputtered, “You! I’m going to kill you!”
Jiang Lan couldn’t be bothered with words and simply gave him a thorough beating.
“Stop, stop! I’ll go back, all right?”
He tried to dive back into the bag, but Jiang Lan quickly tightened its opening.
Barefoot, Chifeng paced back and forth, fuming. “You, you, you mortal—starting a fight at the slightest provocation is one thing, but why stop me when I’m willing to go back in?”
Jiang Lan nodded, thinking to herself that if he went back into the bag, she might not be able to get him out
