Chapter 12: Desperately Begging the Underworld King to Assume the Position of Sect Leader
The butler seemed not to hear the bald, fat man’s words—no response, no reply, not even a glance in his direction.
This infuriated the bald man, who felt deeply humiliated and shouted, “You’re shameless! I think you’re courting death!”
At the same time, he surged forward and struck out with a palm, this time unleashing his full, furious strength.
Seeing this, the enchantress’s delicate face changed dramatically as she shouted, “Don’t block it head-on!”
With her own formidable power, she could clearly gauge the force behind the bald man’s palm strike. At the same time, she realized she was no match for him—he was even stronger than the number one warrior on the War God Ranking she had challenged before.
That was why she warned the butler not to block it, though he ignored her and showed her no respect. Still, since they were on the same side, she didn’t want the butler to get hurt by this outsider.
“Uncultured fool!” the butler sneered at the enchantress and then struck out again.
Boom!
The collision of the two palms erupted with a thunderous sound like a great bell.
The enchantress stared in shock as the bald man staggered back over ten steps, crashing into those behind him, pushing them back as well.
“Oh my God!” she gasped, eyes wide with disbelief.
This unassuming butler’s strength was terrifyingly immense.
With such power, he could easily claim the top spot on the War God Ranking!
“You… how is this possible?” the bald man staggered back several paces, steadying himself as he stared at the butler in disbelief.
He couldn’t believe that apart from the Underworld King, there was a second person stronger than him in the world—and this person was apparently just a servant of the Underworld King’s household.
Everyone behind the bald man was also shaken by the butler’s strength, their sense of superiority completely shattered.
They were actually inferior even to a mere servant of the Underworld King!
“Step back ten paces, or die!” the butler said emotionlessly.
The bald man hurriedly ordered his men to retreat, all concealing their arrogance and no longer daring to show off.
At that moment, a Hummer car roared up.
Ye Huan and Hong Luan, once again donning their baseball caps and masks, stepped out of the vehicle.
“Greetings, Underworld King!” the bald man and all the suited men knelt down on one knee in unison.
“Master!” the butler and four others bowed deeply.
The enchantress looked dazed. She had always thought the bald man and his gang were enemies of the Underworld King, troublemakers out for revenge.
But now, seeing them all kneeling, it seemed they had come to pledge allegiance to the Underworld King?
“Who are they?” Hong Luan asked, surprised by the imposing assembly before her. She recalled the Underworld King as a solitary butcher with no faction beneath him.
Who were these men in suits on such a scorching day? And why were they paying respects to the Underworld King?
“They’re senior figures of Hell’s Gate,” Ye Huan said casually.
“Hell’s Gate?” The very mention of those words almost made Hong Luan and the enchantress faint.
They looked at the kneeling Hell’s Gate elders in shock, their hearts turbulent.
The world’s most mysterious and powerful underground organization, Hell’s Gate, with a legacy spanning over a thousand years, had been subdued by the Underworld King?
The enchantress’s face flushed crimson with excitement, her heart pounding, breath quickening. The man she admired held such stature—not only was he at the pinnacle of the global hierarchy, but he had also brought even Hell’s Gate under his sway.
Amazing!
Truly amazing!
At that moment, the enchantress thought to herself: forget being the Underworld King’s queen; even becoming one of his consorts would be the peak of her life!
Compared to the enchantress, Hong Luan’s thoughts were more complex, her shock even greater.
The Underworld King alone was enough to make all the world’s nations and the underground realm wary and unwilling to provoke him.
With Hell’s Gate in his grasp, he could threaten every country on the planet!
“You really have some skill!” Hong Luan said, then strode up to the bald man and kicked him down coldly.
“I just got out of prison and returned to Peng City today, and you’re already waiting here for me. Seems like you know my every move!” she said icily.
The bald man, after being knocked down, did not get angry. Instead, he quickly rose and dropped to both knees, prostrating himself before Ye Huan.
Seeing this, the other Hell’s Gate elders who were only on one knee scrambled to drop to both knees and prostrate themselves as well.
Fear!
They were terrified at this moment.
Secretly investigating the Underworld King’s whereabouts was a capital offense.
And coming to his home so openly without permission might have crossed the Underworld King’s unspoken red line.
“Please forgive us, Underworld King!” the bald man said, his forehead smashing against the ground.
“We were secretly tracking your movements and came to your home with no ill intent. We wish to invite you to become the head of Hell’s Gate.”
“Six years ago, I said I’m not interested in the position of head of Hell’s Gate!” Ye Huan said coldly.
The enchantress and Hong Luan exchanged glances.
They had seen many boastful people, but never anyone as utterly confident as Ye Huan.
Hell’s Gate was legendary. Whoever held its power could challenge any nation on the globe.
Yet here, all the elders of Hell’s Gate were begging Ye Huan to become their leader—and apparently had been for six years—yet Ye Huan steadfastly refused.
“May I say something?” Hong Luan stepped closer, speaking softly.
“Why do they want you to be head of Hell’s Gate?” she asked.
“Six years ago, I killed the head of Hell’s Gate,” Ye Huan replied casually.
Hong Luan and the enchantress were speechless.
Incredible!
Since Hell’s Gate’s establishment centuries ago, its heads had been the most mysterious people on earth—more enigmatic than even the current Underworld King.
No one even knew who the head of Hell’s Gate was.
And yet Ye Huan not only knew but had killed that person.
Killing was one thing, but the remarkable thing was that Hell’s Gate’s people didn’t seek revenge. Instead, they begged Ye Huan to become their leader.
Incredible!
Absolutely incredible!
“Underworld King, since you killed the old head, Hell’s Gate has been leaderless, descending into internal power struggles, splitting into factions that refuse to submit to one another. There have even been multiple violent clashes. If this continues, Hell’s Gate will inevitably fracture.”
The bald man crawled on the ground, speaking rapidly.
“We, the senior elders of Hell’s Gate, do not want to see the millennia-old foundation destroyed. After discussion, we believe only you are qualified to be our leader, and we submit to no one else but you.”
After speaking, he knocked his head against the ground with a loud thud.
Then all the Hell’s Gate elders knelt together, smashing the courtyard tiles outside Ye Huan’s home with their desperate kowtows.
As they kowtowed, they prayed aloud:
“Please, Underworld King, accept the position of head…”
