Chapter 15: Li Yu and I Are Just Ordinary Friends
Page 1/3
Li Yu exaggeratedly expressed his admiration for the car without any attempt to hide it. Chen Shuya wasn’t very knowledgeable about cars; she only recognized a few luxury car logos.
“He’s probably parking. Come on, let’s go check it out. I want to see which big shot this is. If it’s a student, maybe we can get to know them.”
With that, Li Yu hurried toward the parking lot behind the cafeteria, and Chen Shuya had no choice but to follow.
In the parking lot, Lin Bai parked his car next to Qin Ruowei’s purple Xiaomi SU7. After getting out, he headed toward the cafeteria to have dinner.
Just as he left, Li Yu and Chen Shuya arrived, only catching a glimpse of a figure walking away.
Li Yu didn’t know Lin Bai well and couldn’t recognize him, but Chen Shuya was different.
They had spent three years together in high school; she knew Lin Bai’s silhouette all too well.
Although Lin Bai’s style had changed significantly, Chen Shuya could never mistake his back.
“Damn! Just missed him!” Li Yu patted his knee in frustration.
Chen Shuya ignored him and stared fixedly as Lin Bai’s figure entered the cafeteria.
“Li Yu, is this car expensive?”
“Of course! The top-of-the-line model costs nearly a million yuan. What do you think?”
Chen Shuya was startled by the price.
A million!
That number was just an abstract concept to her, yet it stirred something in her mind, causing her brow to furrow.
“Li Yu, you still haven’t answered my question. All those bags and jewelry you bought me were fake!”
This was the third time Chen Shuya had brought this up, and each time Li Yu had brushed it off.
Hearing her again, Li Yu lost patience and frowned.
“Do you know how much the real ones cost? We’ve only known each other for a few days—do you think that’s possible? We’re adults now; can you use your brain for once?”
With that, Li Yu turned and walked away, leaving Chen Shuya staring in disbelief.
Chen Shuya took a few steps forward to catch up but failed. She could only watch helplessly as Li Yu walked further away, then crouched down and wept.
After crying for a while, the sight of a brand-new black Mercedes caught her attention. Hastily wiping her tears, she took out some makeup and a small mirror from her bag to touch up her appearance.
Then, she turned and walked into the cafeteria.

On the third floor of the cafeteria, Lin Bai sat in a corner eating his meal while messaging Qin Ruowei.
Since it was past the peak meal time, there weren’t many students around, sparing him unnecessary trouble.
“Lin Bai?”
Midway through his meal, a familiar voice called out. Lin Bai turned his head.
“Chen Shuya?”
Seeing Chen Shuya again, she was still the same as before.
Lin Bai had imagined countless scenarios of meeting Chen Shuya again.
He pictured himself begging her to take him back, slapping her and calling her a shameless woman, or turning his back and becoming strangers forever…
But when Chen Shuya truly stood before him, Lin Bai felt only calm.
Chen Shuya wasn’t as beautiful as before—that was his most honest impression.
“Is there something you need?” Lin Bai resumed eating.
Chen Shuya sat opposite him, her eyes filled with suspicion as she scrutinized him, her mouth never closing.
“You… it really is you, Lin Bai. You’ve changed so much!”
“People always change. You should know that better than anyone,” Lin Bai replied, nodding at Chen Shuya.
She understood, and a hint of embarrassment flashed across her face as she tidied her messy hair.
“Sorry, Lin Bai, Li Yu and I are just ordinary friends…”
“*Cough, cough, cough!*”
Lin Bai suddenly started coughing violently, having choked on his food.
After drinking some water, he felt better and finished his meal. Holding his tray, he stood up.
“Your relationship has nothing to do with me, and I don’t care. I already have a girlfriend. Let’s not see each other anymore.”
Without waiting for Chen Shuya’s plea, Lin Bai turned and walked away.
Watching his departing back, Chen Shuya’s only thoughts were confusion and disbelief.
She couldn’t understand why Lin Bai had changed so drastically in just a few days.
Not only had his image transformed, but he also donned designer clothes and drove a luxury car worth a million!
A few days ago, if someone had told her this, she wouldn’t have believed it.
“Impossible. He couldn’t have suddenly become rich. He must be faking it!”
“Maybe it’s rented? That’s possible! Renting a car just to show off and make me reconsider? Almost fooled me! Hmph!”
“But he does look pretty handsome all cleaned up.”
Thinking that, Chen Shuya felt somewhat better.
…
Leaving the cafeteria, Lin Bai drove to the security office to take care of his access pass.
This matter had to be resolved sooner or later.
He actually didn’t want to drive, but since the access pass might be necessary for his car, he had no choice.
The security office was located in the central part of the campus in a separate two-story red building.
The Mercedes GLE pulled into the courtyard and stopped. Lin Bai got out and walked to the office door with the sign.
The door was slightly ajar, but Lin Bai still knocked.
“Come in,” came a gruff male voice from inside.

Lin Bai pushed open the door and entered. The room had only one person, a man in a security uniform sitting in a chair smoking.
Lin Bai frowned at the smell of smoke and approached.
“Hello, I need to apply for an access pass.”
The man glanced at Lin Bai.
“A student? Students can enter and exit the campus with their student ID; no access pass is needed.”
“I’m applying for a car access pass.”
Hearing that Lin Bai had a car, the man was momentarily stunned, then rummaged through a stack of forms and handed one over.
“Here, there’s a pen over there. Fill out the information and give it back to me.”
Lin Bai took the form and moved aside to fill it out.
The required information was nothing more than the license plate number, owner details, and other miscellaneous data.
Lin Bai quickly finished and handed the form back.
The man glanced over it, then picked up a stamp to seal it.
At the crucial moment, the man noticed something, carefully examining the form again before looking at Lin Bai.
“You’re Lin Bai from the School of Foreign Languages?”
Lin Bai frowned, sensing something was wrong.
“Yes.”
“Then you can’t get this.”
Upon confirmation, the man put down the stamp, tore the form into pieces, and threw them in the trash. He lit another cigarette, leaned back in his chair, and crossed his legs.
“Why?”
Lin Bai had an inkling but still asked.
“Why? Don’t you know deep down? You even dared to hit Yuan Fengcai, the son of our security chief, and you expect to get an access pass?”
The man’s answer confirmed Lin Bai’s suspicions—it was indeed related to Yuan Fengcai.
“My issues with Yuan Fengcai are personal matters. This is you taking revenge through official channels!”
“Oh? No wonder you’re a university student. I don’t care about personal or official matters. My boss is Yuan Hai, and I follow my boss. That can’t be wrong, right?”
The man’s words left Lin Bai speechless. Just then, the system’s task notification sounded again.
