Chapter 16: Did You Get Plastic Surgery?
Page 1/3
Listening to the system’s introduction, Lin Bai's face was the picture of despair. He seriously suspected this damn system was doing this on purpose!
“I accept!” Lin Bai had neither the power nor the ability to refuse.
“But what exactly is the Qingpingle Restaurant? And what use is the Supreme VIP status?”
[Beep! Qingpingle Restaurant is one of the most renowned eateries in Jiangcheng.]
[The Supreme VIP enjoys sixteen benefits, including no reservation needed, a 20% discount, and a spending limit of one million.]
Hearing this, Lin Bai suddenly understood.
A one million spending limit meant he could eat up to one million worth without spending a single cent!
“Do I have to pay this one million back?”
[Beep! Seriously? What do you think?]
“Isn’t this just like a credit card...”
“Hey, hey, hey! Daydreaming again?”
The security guard waved his hand, interrupting the conversation between Lin Bai and the system.
Lin Bai’s gaze landed on the guard. “Fine! Since you say so, I’ll find someone who can make your boss listen.”
With that, Lin Bai turned and walked away, giving no chance for a reply.
Behind him, the guard sneered coldly, “Big talk! I’ve seen plenty of students like you. Wait until the semester ends and you fail everything, then you’ll see that university isn’t like high school.”
Lin Bai ignored him, got back into his car, started the engine, and drove off.
...
In the afternoon, with nothing better to do, Lin Bai returned to the Mixue Ice City milk tea shop to continue his part-time job.
“That’s tough. You don’t know Yuan Hai—he’s ruthless. You hit his son, so he definitely won’t let it go. Access pass? Forget it.”
The shop was empty; Lin Bai and Brother Luo sat chatting.
Seeing how serious Brother Luo was, Lin Bai asked, “Isn’t there anyone in the whole school who can handle Yuan Hai?”
“There is! Of course there is—principal, vice principal, head of academic affairs, plenty of them. But why would they risk offending Yuan Hai just to help a freshman like you? You tell me.”
Brother Luo’s words were blunt but true; that’s how the world works.
Lin Bai was just a freshman; the other party was the head of security—there was no comparison.
Seeing Lin Bai troubled, Brother Luo gently nudged him.
“If it really doesn’t work, I have an idea for you.”
“What?”
“Go find your little girlfriend’s dad. As long as he’s willing to help, Yuan Hai’s nothing.”
Lin Bai froze. “You mean Ruo Wei?”
Brother Luo nodded. “Exactly.”

“Ruo Wei’s dad? Does he have anything to do with our school? Can he even control this place?”
Lin Bai looked puzzled.
Brother Luo smiled. “You, you... That’s why I’ve spent ten years at this school for nothing.”
“Not just our school—if her dad wants to, he can control every school in Jiangcheng!”
Lin Bai’s mouth formed an O-shape. “Holy crap! That powerful?”
“Exactly! That’s why I say you hit the jackpot. Her dad is the second-in-command at the Education Department. Ruo Wei is their only daughter. Enough said. You figure it out.”
Brother Luo wore a mysterious expression mixed with frustration.
Lin Bai had never heard about Ruo Wei’s family background before.
Not surprising; Ruo Wei didn’t know Lin Bai’s family situation either, since they hadn’t been together long.
But after a moment’s thought, Lin Bai’s eyes hardened.
“No! I want to handle him myself! Using a cannon to kill a mosquito is a waste, and I don’t want to owe anyone favors.”
Beside him, Brother Luo stared blankly at Lin Bai, eventually shaking his head in resignation and patting his shoulder.
“Well, good luck! I’m going next door to see Sister Lin—her heart’s bad, being with you is stressful.”
Lin Bai didn’t stop him.
After finishing his part-time job in the afternoon, Lin Bai ate alone in the cafeteria and video-called Qin Ruo Wei.
During the call, he didn’t mention a word about the security office—that was his pride.
After the meal, Lin Bai walked back to the dorm while still on the video call with Ruo Wei. Once back, they ended the call.
Room 306—Lin Bai pushed open the door and saw his two other roommates had returned.
Lu Xiaobin, a short guy with a bowl cut, wore glasses with frames bigger than half his face. He loved reading and tinkering with strange gadgets.
Chen Zhe, a burly Northerner from the northeast, had a square face and crew cut, was righteous and fond of drinking.
Zhao Fangting... no introduction needed.
“Whoa!”
The same exclamation, the same shock, the same formula—only the tone differed.
Lu Xiaobin and Chen Zhe stared at Lin Bai as if he were a monster.
“Lin Bai, did you get reincarnated while we were gone?”
“Or did you secretly get plastic surgery?”
Chen Zhe and Lu Xiaobin spoke in turn.
Before Lin Bai could reply, Zhao Fangting took off his headphones and without looking back said, “I told you, but you wouldn’t believe me.”
Lu Xiaobin and Chen Zhe stood up, eyeing Lin Bai like monkeys inspecting the zoo.
Lin Bai pushed past them. “Don’t bother me, I’m dead tired after a whole day.”
Passing by, Lin Bai headed to his bed, took off his clothes, and prepared to shower.

“Whoa!”
The familiar exclamation echoed again. Lin Bai turned around to see Chen Zhe leap toward him, eyes wide with admiration, fixated on his muscles.
“H-how, how, how do you train like this? Teach me—please!”
Lin Bai’s muscles were irresistibly attractive to Chen Zhe.
Lin Bai pushed him away and entered the bathroom. Zhao Fangting continued gaming as he said,
“Every day: 1500 meters running, 120 push-ups, 280 sit-ups. Come on! I believe in you, Chen Zhe! You can do it.”
Chen Zhe swallowed hard and suddenly moved closer to Zhao Fangting.
“You mean he’s been doing this every day for the past few days?”
“You’ll see soon enough.”
Men are quick in the shower—after a few minutes, Lin Bai emerged, returned to his bed, settled in, and started doing sit-ups.
Zhao Fangting played games, Lu Xiaobin read, and Chen Zhe leaned by Lin Bai’s bed, eyes sparkling.
...
[Beep! Congratulations, host, you’ve completed today’s check-in task. Current progress: 5/7. Please keep up the good work.]
Lin Bai breathed a sigh of relief after finishing today’s check-in and looked at Chen Zhe.
“Want to touch?”
Chen Zhe didn’t hesitate, nodding eagerly.
Lin Bai lightly slapped his hand away. “Go away!”
At that moment, Zhao Fangting finished his game, stretched, and said,
“Ah! Brothers, let me tell you some huge news! While you were gone these past few days, our little Bai here has gotten a girlfriend!”
After Zhao Fangting’s announcement, Chen Zhe and Lu Xiaobin turned to Lin Bai in unison.
“No way! Guess you gotta treat us to a good meal, huh?”
The four roommates had an agreement: whoever got into a relationship first had to treat the others.
Though Lin Bai was with Chen Shuya at the time, she didn’t want others to know, so he kept quiet.
But that actually worked out well.
Lin Bai’s eyes flickered as he thought about inviting Qin Ruo Wei’s roommates for a meal after the holiday, then came up with a plan. He took out his phone and sent Ruo Wei a message.
“I have three sworn brothers. We agreed that whoever finds a partner first must treat the rest. Since I’m inviting them, why not make it a mixer with your roommates too?”
