Chapter Thirty-Two: I Have Been Defiled!
Nangong Yuchen sprinted madly, clutching Nangong Kexin in his arms as he raced out of the Xi Yuan residential complex. He could feel two relentless figures in hot pursuit behind him. The strange transformation that had overtaken his body had abruptly returned to normal after crippling Zhou Haoran’s right hand, which was why he had seized the moment to grab his sister and flee. Otherwise, with the blood surging violently within him, he felt he could have killed the remaining four men as well!
The only regret was that if he had known the change would vanish so suddenly, he wouldn’t have merely destroyed Zhou Haoran’s hand—the one that had defiled Kexin’s face. As for the bizarre changes in his body, he had no idea what had happened, especially why his fingernails had suddenly grown long and razor-sharp. He had no time to ponder these things now; all he could do was clutch Kexin tightly and run for their lives.
The three stab wounds on his back, inflicted by a short knife, burned with pain as blood streamed out. Nangong Yuchen couldn’t spare a thought for that. There was only one idea in his mind: escape!
Uncle Zhao and his companion chased after them, following the trail of blood droplets on the road, yet they could never quite catch up. They couldn’t understand how a boy with speed matching their own, injured and carrying another person no less, could run so fast.
After leaving the Xi Yuan complex, their anxiety only grew. If they failed to capture Nangong Yuchen today, they would certainly face severe punishment upon their return. Four body cultivators, all on the verge of breaking through the first stage, had followed Zhou Haoran to deal with Nangong Yuchen—a task that should have been effortless—yet they had completely botched it! Not only had their young master’s hand been severed, but Uncle Zhang had lost his life as well. If they lost these two now, how could they return? And if the matter were to be exposed, Mu Ningxue...
The mere thought of that name made their hearts pound wildly. They redoubled their pursuit in desperation.
As they chased, they suddenly found themselves in a pitch-dark area, where it was impossible to see the blood trail. The two men stopped, exchanged a glance, and their faces went pale. It was over—they had truly lost them.
...
Nangong Yuchen held his trembling sister tightly, hiding in a dark corner not far from the Xi Yuan complex. If he hadn’t had the quick wit to hide Kexin at the last moment and then circle back alone, misleading their pursuers with the trail of his own blood, they would have been caught for sure.
He was grateful it was night.
The two of them were covered in blood, their faces drained of color. At that moment, Nangong Yuchen dared not make a sound, his heart aching as he watched his sister, her eyes blank, shivering uncontrollably.
Half an hour later, Nangong Kexin lost consciousness from excessive blood loss, and Yuchen himself felt he could collapse at any moment. If not for sheer willpower, he would have fainted just like his sister.
“Tap, tap!”
Nangong Yuchen finally emerged from the darkness, still carrying his sister. He carefully checked to make sure no one was around before heading quickly in another direction. It was already past midnight; the streets of District C were eerily quiet. Weak and exhausted, he had no idea where to go.
The hospital? He feared running into Zhou Haoran and his men. Yet if Kexin and he didn’t get treatment soon, something terrible might happen, and this made him even more anxious.
In the end, with no other choice, he waited by the roadside for over ten minutes before forcing a taxi to stop. He directed it to his rented apartment in District D.
Fortunately, it took just over twenty minutes to get from District C to his home in District D, largely because he kept urging the driver to go faster.
Once home, Nangong Yuchen quickly laid Kexin on the bed. He fetched warm water, cleaned the wounds on her thighs, and bandaged them as best he could—even though the bullets were still lodged inside, it was all he could do for now. Then he helped her out of her bloodstained clothes and wiped every trace of blood from her body before letting out a heavy sigh.
Only then did he consider his own wounds. As he was about to treat them, a wave of dizziness crashed over him, and he collapsed straight onto the bed, falling unconscious.
Tuesday morning.
When Shangguan Luohua heard yet again that Nangong Yuchen was skipping class, she became so furious that she called him ten times in a row, but no one answered. This enraged her! She couldn’t believe that after yesterday’s incident in the academic office, the boy was already skipping class again!
She had planned to punish him severely when he turned up that afternoon, but he never appeared. Her calls still went unanswered.
Perplexed, she grew anxious, recalling how Nangong Yuchen had insisted on quitting school yesterday afternoon in the academic office. Could he really have dropped out? Was he giving up on the gifted student assessment as well?
Eventually, she called Le Han to ask what was going on, only to learn that he, too, had no idea, but he was sure of one thing: Nangong Yuchen was not quitting school.
This news finally put Shangguan Luohua’s mind at ease. She turned to Liu Wendao, who was constantly tattling, and said, “It’s fine, let him skip class if he wants. As long as he still comes to school, that’s enough.”
Liu Wen was dumbfounded. He couldn’t believe these words had come from Shangguan Luohua, a woman known for her strictness.
Another person deeply concerned about the matter was Angel. She found it odd that neither Nangong Yuchen nor Nangong Kexin had attended class that day.
At lunchtime, she took a bus to Nangong Yuchen’s home, only to find the door tightly locked and the place empty.
She hadn’t expected that the one night she wasn’t in Xi Yuan complex, something would really happen.
...
It was a simple room, containing only the bare essentials: a cabinet and a small wooden bed, nothing more.
On the bed lay a delicate figure. No one knew how much time had passed before she suddenly opened her dull, beautiful eyes and murmured, “Am I dead?”
At those words, silence fell over the room.
The young woman then raised her slender, fair hand before her eyes. Seeing her fingers as clean as ever, her pupils dilated in sudden realization. Memories of last night flooded back, and she called out instinctively, “Yuchen!”
Her memory was frozen at the moment when Nangong Yuchen lay bleeding on the floor, and she herself was about to be violated by Zhou Haoran.
There was no answer, and she abruptly sat up—only then did she realize that she was naked from the waist up.
Tears instantly cascaded down her cheeks. She hadn’t died—she had been defiled by Zhou Haoran!
At that moment, she caught sight of her brother, Nangong Yuchen, sound asleep at the other end of the bed, bundled deep in the covers.
She was stunned for a moment. “Yuchen’s alive too?”
Without thinking, she kicked him on the head and wailed, “Yuchen!”
With a thud, Nangong Yuchen tumbled off the bed, waking in a daze and rubbing his aching head. Meeting Nangong Kexin’s tear-streaked face, he asked in confusion, “Kexin, what’s wrong?”
“Yuchen! I... ah, wuu...” Nangong Kexin, heedless of her bare state, threw herself into her brother’s blood-stained arms and sobbed uncontrollably.
Yuchen could only stare in bafflement, having no idea what was going on. He remembered cleaning the blood from his sister the night before, then suddenly feeling the world spin before everything went black. After that, he remembered nothing...
Kexin cried for several minutes before finally choking out, grief-stricken, “Yuchen... wuu, I... I was violated by Zhou Haoran!”
