Chapter Sixteen: Ruthless Suppression (Please support and recommend!)
The moment the sealing talisman adhered to Li Ping’s body, she stiffened instantly, immobilized by its power. Seeing this, the cat demon’s emerald eyes flashed with ferocity; he let out a guttural roar, summoning a surge of yellow-white light from within, launching a direct attack upon the blue-robed wraith.
The cat demon, a cultivator among monsters, advanced slowly in his cultivation, yet his strength far surpassed others of the same realm. This blow, fueled by his fury, left the blue-robed wraith without Li Ping’s shield, forcing him to rely solely on his own power to withstand the assault.
But the blue-robed wraith’s strength lagged behind the cat demon’s; after enduring the attack, his internal yin energy billowed forth, and even his form began to flicker, unable to hold together.
“You brat, you’re courting death!” The corrupt cultivator, seeing Su Ye subdue Li Ping, shouted furiously and once again waved the Filthy Yin Banner at Su Ye.
The banner rippled, its gray-blue sigils flashing as a blast of evil wind condensed into two sharp blades, slicing toward Su Ye. These wind blades were deadlier than the earlier scattered gusts—their speed was startling, accompanied by a crisp sound that cut through the air.
Su Ye flicked his sleeve, sending out a crimson talisman—the Thunderfire Talisman, one of only two he had crafted. The power of the thunderfire, when forged into a talisman, was even more formidable. As Su Ye unleashed its force, the intense energy converged into a long spear of thunder and flame, darting like lightning toward the corrupt cultivator’s chest.
At that moment, the two wind blades sliced toward Su Ye’s neck. He moved swiftly, his feet barely touching the ground, veering aside with ethereal agility. Yet the blades were too fast; despite his best efforts, one caught him, slicing into his flesh.
In an instant, the evil wind’s corrupting force seeped into Su Ye’s body. His expression grew grave but not fearful; he had anticipated such a turn. As soon as the wind entered him, Su Ye activated the Yin-Yang Five Thunder Heart Technique, channeling his inner power to suppress the malignant force.
Though the evil wind was persistent, requiring careful focus to expel it, Su Ye remained composed, knowing what to expect.
Yet the corrupt cultivator fared no better. The thunderfire spear, forged from condensed thunderfire energy, had immense destructive power, enough to slay a cultivator of the first realm. Though the corrupt cultivator was formidable, he could not withstand its onslaught—the spear pierced his body, missing his heart, but the rampant thunderfire within caused grievous injury.
Meanwhile, under the cat demon’s relentless assault, the blue-robed wraith could no longer hold together. His form broke apart, vanishing into nothingness. The wraith’s mind was linked to the corrupt cultivator; as his form dissipated, the cultivator suffered backlash, vomiting blood and worsening his wounds.
The cat demon, now more ferocious than ever, pounced upon the corrupt cultivator. Though both were of the first realm, the cat demon’s sheer power outweighed the cultivator’s versatility. And with the cultivator already severely injured by the thunderfire talisman, he stood no chance against the cat demon’s attack.
“You’re all very impressive—just wait, I won’t let you off!” The corrupt cultivator conjured a layer of gray clouds beneath his feet, accelerating rapidly as he fled into the distance.
“You think you can escape?” Su Ye laughed softly.
As the cat demon launched his attack, Su Ye ceased his own assault, but kept a close watch on the fleeing enemy. At the moment the corrupt cultivator tried to escape, Su Ye flicked his talisman brush, activating three thunderfire talismans he had prepared in advance. The surge of thunderfire energy wove together, forming a vast net that enveloped the cultivator.
The thunderfire sank into his body, combining with what already lingered within, relentlessly ravaging him from the inside.
The cat demon struck again, and moments later, he bit through the cultivator’s neck, ending his life for good.
The cat demon was wounded, his forepaws pressed to the earth as he panted, emerald eyes glowing with a wild light, a thick aura of ferocity radiating from him.
Su Ye saw the state of the cat demon and sighed. He waved his talisman brush, sending a pale blue-white talisman flying to the cat demon’s brow.
“Don’t resist—this is the Iceheart Talisman. It will help soothe the violent energy within you,” Su Ye explained as the cat demon tensed.
The cat demon, having slaughtered so many ordinary villagers of Zhao Village, had accumulated a great deal of ferocious energy within. After prolonged battle with the corrupt cultivator, that energy was fully triggered. If not purged, the once-cultivating cat demon would become a monster feeding on humans.
Still lucid, the cat demon sensed the Iceheart Talisman’s cooling power entering him; his mind, once clouded by ferocity, cleared.
Seeing the cat demon calm, Su Ye turned his attention to the corpse of the corrupt cultivator.
The cultivator had arrived in haste, carrying only a ghost-raising gourd and the Filthy Yin Banner. Neither was of much use to Su Ye; the banner especially could be dangerous to wield without care.
Su Ye summoned a flame in his palm, burning the banner, the gourd, and the corpse together. Though the two magical items survived the flames, the evil energy within them evaporated, leaving behind their raw materials.
These would be useful to Su Ye, so when the fire died down he gathered them up.
“Su Ye, I beg you, please save my master!” The cat demon, now able to suppress his ferocious energy with the help of the Iceheart Talisman, finally dared to speak as he saw Su Ye pause.
