During this time, I must thank Lord Magistrate for intervening and stopping that demon Daoist Bai Song, which kept him too occupied to target the Su family!” Su Ye could clearly sense the unstable aura within Qu Zhang; in this Jinhua County, the only one capable of wounding Qu Zhang was Bai Song alone.

“If that demon Daoist is still within Jinhua County, we need not trouble ourselves—let us confront him directly. With your strength combined with mine, Bai Song is certainly no match for us.”

Su Ye had great confidence in his own abilities. Bai Song’s power was not truly formidable; previously, it was merely the disparity in cultivation realms that made Su Ye inferior. Now, both he and Bai Song had reached the Ninth Rank, and with Qu Zhang assisting, Bai Song’s demise was inevitable.

“He is indeed still in Jinhua County, but we need not seek him out. He has already come to my Luoxing Mountain!” A shadow of solemnity crossed Qu Zhang’s face. Bai Song had arrived at the foot of Luoxing Mountain, accompanied by a group of county constables from Jinhua, clearly intent on destroying the Magistrate Temple.

Su Ye and Qu Zhang exchanged glances, then, in an instant, departed the Magistrate Temple and soon came upon Bai Song and his companions.

“Bai Song, what do you intend by bringing these men?” Qu Zhang’s face grew cold as he saw the constables behind Bai Song.

“You are now useless as the Magistrate of Jinhua County, and this temple no longer serves any purpose. It would be best to destroy it outright!” Bai Song flicked the dust whisk in his hand, his face twisted in a sinister smile.

“There’s no need to waste words with this demon Daoist—let us suppress and kill him directly!” Su Ye stepped out from behind Qu Zhang, wielding his talisman brush. Within his spiritual sea, the companion jade talisman surged with azure light; the power of thunder and fire and spiritual energy gathered at the tip of his brush, condensing a thunder-fire talisman in his hand.

This talisman was far more potent than those he had refined before; it absorbed the thunder and fire of heaven and earth, making its power immensely formidable.

“Ninth Rank cultivation!” As Bai Song saw Su Ye strike, he sensed the shift in Su Ye’s aura. His expression changed slightly, and he swung his dust whisk, unleashing streams of white light to attack Su Ye.

Qu Zhang then produced the bronze seal, forming a spell with his hands. A phantom of a giant mountain emerged from the seal, roaring down to suppress Bai Song.

The constables accompanying Bai Song had never witnessed such sorcery; terrified, they fled down the mountain.

The three—Su Ye, Qu Zhang, and Bai Song—fought without the slightest concern for the constables. The surging power of thunder and fire and the chilling aura swept forth; those constables too slow to escape were struck by these forces and perished instantly.

Su Ye felt these constables were complicit in evil and deserved their fate.

As for Bai Song, he cared nothing for the constables’ lives.

Their deaths caused no ripple in the emotions of Su Ye, Qu Zhang, or Bai Song.

“Young man, don’t think that reaching the Ninth Rank means you can handle me. Today, I’ll show you what I am capable of!” Bai Song shouted fiercely, and a sinister aura surged from within him. He formed a wicked spell with his hands, and suddenly the cries of an infant echoed from within his body.

“Death Spirit Ghost Infant!”

At the sound of the infant’s wailing, Qu Zhang’s face changed. This Death Spirit Ghost Infant had been refined by Bai Song using the purest infant souls.

He had fused the ghost infant within himself; once its power was invoked, the ghost infant would recognize Bai Song as its ghost mother and lend him its strength, rapidly augmenting Bai Song’s abilities.

Su Ye, hearing the ghost infant’s cries, showed no panic but instead smiled.

He excelled at exorcising ghosts and subduing evil; now that Bai Song had unleashed the power of the Death Spirit Ghost Infant, it was the perfect opportunity for Su Ye to counter him.

Su Ye let out a low growl; the companion jade talisman in his spiritual sea shone even brighter. The talisman brush in his hand emitted a radiant purple glow, gathering the force of heaven and earth. He forged a Purple Jade Talisman.

Command!

Su Ye swung his talisman brush, the runes of the Purple Jade Talisman intertwining, instantly transforming into a purple cage that enveloped Bai Song.

The power of the Purple Jade Talisman was especially effective against the Death Spirit Ghost Infant. As the purple cage enclosed Bai Song, dense purple rune threads burrowed into his body, instantly wrapping around the ghost infant.

The Death Spirit Ghost Infant felt a surge of excruciating pain, emitting a shrill cry and writhing inside Bai Song.

This brought Bai Song immense agony. The ghost infant, once refined within his body, had never harmed him. Now, it showed signs of losing control; if it burst free, Bai Song’s death was imminent.

Bai Song dropped his dust whisk and formed a spell with his hands, striking his swollen abdomen in an attempt to suppress the unruly ghost infant.

But at that moment, Qu Zhang activated the bronze seal once more, and a wave of blue-yellow light surged forth, striking Bai Song’s abdomen.

Bang.

A muffled sound rang out; Bai Song’s swollen belly, struck by the tremendous force, burst open.

The Death Spirit Ghost Infant, hidden in Bai Song’s belly, let out a scream and broke through his stomach, emerging into the open.

The ghost infant was about the size of a newborn, its skin bluish-purple and its features blurred, presenting a terrifying visage.

The ghost infant was not inherently evil, but as it emerged from Bai Song's body into the world, it was instantly tainted by the miasma of heaven and earth, transforming into a fierce and malevolent spirit.

Its first act was to open its sharp fangs and devour half of Bai Song’s body.

Bai Song cried out in agony, forming a spell with his hands to try to suppress the ghost infant that had slipped from his control. However, after consuming his flesh and blood, the ghost infant’s power rose swiftly, soon reaching the Ninth Rank.

“Su Ye, hurry and subdue this ghost infant! If it finishes devouring Bai Song, it may ascend to the Eighth Rank!” Qu Zhang shouted anxiously, raising the bronze seal once more. A thick incense aura gushed forth from the seal, pressing down upon the ghost infant.

Su Ye’s face grew grave. He put away his talisman brush and frantically channeled his magic power, circulating the Yin-Yang Five Thunders technique as he formed a spell with his hands.

The energies of the Five Elements gathered in Su Ye’s palm, quickly transforming into Five Thunders and consolidating into a Five Thunders Seal, which he hurled at the ghost infant.
