Chapter 117: The Seal
"Calling you stupid really isn't an understatement!" Adela looked at Luo Yong, who was already incapable of resistance, and noticed he was still fumbling for a tactical scroll.
"Things like that are useless against me!"
However, Luo Yong still activated the scroll.
BOOM!
A massive fireball exploded right against him. Adela remained completely unscathed, not even blinking, while Luo Yong's decent set of equipment was blown to shreds, and his body was left battered and broken.
Although he had reached level 15 and had consumed secret elixirs to enhance his physique, he could not withstand a tactical scroll detonating at such close range.
"Pfft—"
Luo Yong spat out a large mouthful of blood.
Yet, not a single drop managed to touch Adela. An invisible magic barrier stood before her, blocking all harm.
"Hmm? Even at a moment like this, you won't stop your foolish behavior?" Adela stared at Luo Yong and said emotionlessly, "There was once a foolish human boy who pinched my cheek... later, he died... and still later, I became the Crimson Spider Queen, feared by the entire world... yet, he could never come back!"
"I am different toward you than I am toward others. Do not think that you can act recklessly and do whatever you please—"
BOOM!!!
Suddenly, a deafening explosion shattered the silence, and an intense, blazing light blossomed between them!
The overwhelming energy swept instantly across the entire Land of God's Tears. Some Death-God Dragonflies that had been further away and had luckily escaped the first wave were all caught in the shockwave, turning into scattered limbs amidst a series of popping sounds...
"Ah!"
Adela let out a roar, a look of utter disbelief appearing on her face.
At this moment, her clothes were shredded, her skin scorched black, and her originally peerless face was stained with soot. Most importantly, a faint, bloody scratch had been carved across her cheek.
"A high-level magic scroll!? Where did you get it? Who gave it to you? Who sent you to kill me?"
In an instant, Adela considered a myriad of possibilities, her rage mounting until she was stomping her feet in fury.
"An ordinary human hero could not possibly have such courage, such persistent desire to kill me!"
"Which suicide squad sent you? Loya or Dragon? Could it be that they aren't dead either?"
HISSS!
The response was a bolt of irresistible lightning.
Luo Yong was blasted away, landing in a pile of rubble in the distance. He had lost more than half his life, yet he repeated the same action over and over, never ceasing.
This time, Adela’s defenses were broken again. The powerful energy struck her directly, causing her slender body to tremble and her hair to stand on end.
"Damn it!"
She shouted, her figure flickering as she appeared instantly beside Luo Yong. Just as she was about to grab him, she saw another powerful spell being triggered.
"Ah! You bastard! You have successfully enraged me..." Adela's voice grew distant as her body was blown away by the tornado that had just been unleashed.
BANG!
A moment later, Adela, with her clothes torn and hair disheveled, landed firmly on the ground. Before she could even strike a cool pose or take a step forward, she saw Luo Yong trigger yet another tactical scroll!
"No one... has ever dared to treat me this way! Not even if you look exactly like that boy!"
Adela screamed, and an immensely powerful energy erupted from within her body. Her clothes tore apart, revealing... her true spider form.
A massive, mountain-like giant spider, several zhang high, with a human upper body and a spider lower body, just like those level 30 Catherines.
However, her strength had not fully recovered, her level was hard to define, and the form she revealed was not as gargantuan as the legends claimed.
BOOM!
The massive fireball struck her, but could no longer inflict damage.
"You will pay the price for your actions!"
Adela hissed, her face growing increasingly hideous and terrifying.
At this point, Luo Yong was left with nothing but an obsession to kill his opponent, mechanically repeating the action of activating tactical scrolls.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM...
Adela moved quickly on all eight limbs, bearing a terrifying aura. Black magic formed a demonic flame around her body, incinerating everything. Her other four limbs were raised high, the red-and-black tips glinting with a cold light, capable of piercing any creature with ease.
SNAP!
Suddenly, she stepped on something.
Everything on the ground—the hard soil and the even sturdier rocks—had turned to powder under her footsteps. But as she reached Luo Yong, she stepped on something hard that her immense strength and sharp demonic limbs could not crush.
"Hmm?"
She looked down in confusion, seeing nothing; the pit she had created seemed empty. Then, she shook the demonic limb that had stepped on the object.
SNAP!
Another crisp sound.
A thin, palm-sized booklet fell out.
"Magic... Apprentice's... Notebook?"
Adela had excellent eyesight, even though the words on the booklet were tiny—the entire cover was smaller than her thumbnail.
*Cough.*
Yet, she still recognized the characters. They were from an ancient era; she hadn't expected them to still be circulating in the present world...
"Eh?"
The Crimson Spider Queen instantly felt that something was wrong. A sense of foreboding rose in her heart.
RUSTLE!
Under her gaze, the booklet grew larger, transforming into a book, and the words on it seemed to change their meaning.
However, before she could see clearly, the book flipped open on its own.
A dazzling light erupted, shining upon Adela.
"The... the... The Book of Sealing!? No!"
Adela shrieked, a look of terror appearing in her eyes for the first time. Her massive body trembled uncontrollably, her upper torso leaning back as she struggled to avoid the light.
Yet, no matter how hard she tried, her four raised limbs all dropped, carving deep furrows into the ground as soil churned and magic boiled.
Demonic flames rose several zhang high from her body, seemingly capable of burning the entire world.
However...
On the ground, the light from the Book of Sealing intensified, engulfing Adela entirely. Within the pages of the book, a mysterious world seemed to be sealed.
A peerless power had locked onto Adela, intending to drag her into another world.
"No! This is impossible! The Book of Sealing... why would it be in the hands of a stupid human... Loya... Dragon... you betrayed me!!"
Following her wail, her massive body was pulled into the Book of Sealing.
Immediately, a flash of light occurred, and the book closed automatically, returning to its palm-sized state.
Everything vanished, and the Land of God's Tears returned to silence.
Only, as a strong wind blew through, the land could never return to what it once was. Time might smooth over these traces, but it could never restore the area to its original state.
A moment later, a portal of light opened.
A spherical creature arrived, cautiously observing the surroundings. Then, he saw Luo Yong.
At this time, Luo Yong had only a single breath left and was dying, yet he was still stubbornly alive. Sensing movement, he slowly but with absolute determination pulled out a tactical scroll, though he no longer had the strength to activate it.
"Fine, that's ruthless enough!"
The spherical creature exclaimed, his squinty eyes darting around, unsure where the Crimson Spider Queen had gone.
Then, he opened the portal again and took Luo Yong away.
Soon, the portal of light self-destructed.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!
A series of delayed-action tactical scrolls detonated, leaving the already ruined Land of God's Tears riddled with holes and scarred beyond recognition.
Even the gods would weep at the sight...
I do not know how much time had passed.
Luo Yong woke from his coma to find himself soaking in a pool of water, surrounded by pitch-black darkness.
"What's going on?"
Could it be that he had just fallen asleep while bathing in a bathtub?
Eh?
Where would a rented apartment get a bathtub?
"Am I dreaming?"
Lawyer... Mage...
Luo Yong hesitated for a moment.
If he could choose all of this, he wouldn't know how to decide. This immersive experience was too real, infused with genuine emotion.
"Bao'er..."
Luo Yong raised his hand and realized his storage ring was still there and could be opened; none of the things inside were missing.
Of course, he meant those special things.
Like a golden hair ribbon.
Faintly, he could still smell the light fragrance lingering on it.
"The girl you were muttering about in your dreams gave you her hair ribbon?"
Suddenly, a familiar voice sounded, though it lacked any emotional tone.
"You fat bastard, you're not dead yet?" Luo Yong put away the ribbon and said emotionlessly.
At the same time, he realized that this fat bastard seemed to be soaking in the same bath as him!
Are you kidding me, do you think this is a public bathhouse?!
"Nonsense, if you're not dead, how could I be?" Pang Ding said, somewhat angrily.
This Luo Yong had no social graces. He had gone through such trouble to save him, yet there wasn't a single word of thanks, and the moment he opened his mouth, he was annoying.
"If it wasn't for the fact that you have the Resurrection Spell, I would have just—"
Pang Ding waved his arms, making a hacking motion, and said viciously.
"Tch!"
Luo Yong rolled his eyes, ignoring him, and began to check his own information.
"Adela... holy crap!"
In Luo Yong's information panel, within the card list, the final card representing the Crimson Spider Queen had been lit up!
"She's dead?! She was killed?!"
"What?!"
Two voices of disbelief sounded one after another.
The fat one and the thin one stared at each other in the darkness.
"Are you sure?" Pang Ding leaned in closer, staring at Luo Yong with a look of utter shock.
"Not sure."
Luo Yong shook his head, trying hard to remember, but his consciousness had been fading at that time, leaving only instinct; he remembered nothing of what had happened afterward.
