Chapter 6: The Terrifying Warning from a Retired Titan
After dinner, Guan Sheng took a shower and went to Li Yuyan's room, lying down on her soft bed to rest.
Downstairs, Xu Hong hurriedly pulled Li Feng into the study, her face filled with concern. "Old Li, do you think it's really worth it to offend Wang Sihu for the sake of Young Master Qi? That man is not someone to be trifled with."
"Besides, why do I feel like something is off? Young Master Qi came down from the mountain, but instead of returning to the Qi family, he came to stay with us. And he doesn't want anyone to know about his marriage to Yuyan? Isn't that a bit..."
Before she could finish, Li Feng smiled calmly and patted her hand. "I knew you’d have questions, but this isn't a problem. On the contrary, it proves that our family is on the verge of rising to prominence."
"Huh?" Xu Hong looked bewildered.
Li Feng explained, "Even though Young Master Qi is a renowned prodigy in Jiangcheng who studied under the Taoist Master of Qingshan since childhood, don't forget that he isn't the only grandchild in the Qi family."
"The old master once said that the top-tier noble families in Jiangcheng are backed by the most powerful families in the province. Becoming the head of the Qi family is merely an entry ticket to the upper echelons of society. That ticket is enough to tear the Qi family apart from within. Since Young Master Qi has been away for so many years, he surely lacks influence inside the family."
"If he returned to the Qi family the moment he came down the mountain, he would inevitably become a target for everyone. That’s why he has to hide his whereabouts. Do you understand now?"
The explanation cleared much of Xu Hong’s confusion. She was immensely excited. "You... you mean that a tree standing taller than the forest will be destroyed by the wind, and Young Master Qi is using our home to lie low and bide his time?"
"He is waiting for the right moment?"
Li Feng nodded. "Exactly. That is why we must help him. If we can provide him with significant support at this stage, our family will be set for life."
At the mention of being "set for life," Xu Hong’s eyes lit up. The million-dollar jade jewelry she hadn't dared to buy, the expensive designer bags—they were all beckoning to her.
Suddenly, Xu Hong shuddered. "But what if Wang Sihu sends people to investigate Young Master Qi? Won't his identity be easily exposed? He certainly won't let today's incident slide."
Li Feng frowned. "You're right. We need to find a way to create a cover identity to protect him. I need to think..." He fell into deep contemplation.
Little did they know that their entire conversation had been overheard by Li Yuyan outside the door. She found it utterly ridiculous. If they knew that the "Young Master Qi" in their eyes was a fake, would they have a mental breakdown?
Knowing Guan Sheng's true identity, Li Yuyan felt a profound sense of sadness. Yet, she didn't want to go out and reveal the truth now. After all, they were the ones who forced her to marry him. They were the ones who let him into her room. They had chosen him themselves. Did it matter if he was the real Young Master Qi? She didn't like that mysterious Young Master Qi anyway. Why should she have been forced to marry him just because he sent word three years ago that he was coming down the mountain to claim a bride?
His arrogant, condescending attitude disgusted her. It made her feel like a piece of merchandise on a shelf, available for anyone to pick and choose. She hated it!
In comparison, Guan Sheng’s directness seemed more like a man's. Especially the martial prowess he displayed today—it had improved her impression of him slightly. However, she still couldn't bring herself to accept him as her husband.
"Forget it. I just want to focus on my career and start my job at the group tomorrow. I don't want to deal with anything else."
Muttering to herself, Li Yuyan returned to her room. As she opened the door, she saw Guan Sheng’s new clothes on the floor. He was lying on the bed, shirtless, with his hands behind his head and his eyes half-closed.
Hearing the door open, Guan Sheng opened his eyes. Seeing it was his wife, Li Yuyan, he patted the spot beside him. "Come here. Lie down."
Li Yuyan blushed, her body trembling involuntarily. "I... I still have some work to do. You go to sleep first!"
But just as she turned to leave, a large hand slammed the door shut. Li Yuyan’s eyes widened; she felt her body tense up, especially when she felt his warm breath against her neck. She swallowed hard, feeling incredibly nervous.
Guan Sheng tilted her chin up. "Work is not as important as sleep."
Li Yuyan’s voice trembled. "I'm... I'm still a bit sore..."
Guan Sheng’s lips curled into a smirk. "Oh? Is that so?"

Meanwhile, Wang Sihu sat in his office at the Public Security Bureau, his expression cold. The silence of the night led him to smoke cigarette after cigarette.
"Beep! Beep! Beep!" The phone on his desk rang.
Wang Sihu picked it up. "Speak."
The doctor at the hospital said, "I'm truly sorry, Mr. Wang. We did our best, but your daughter's facial injuries are too severe. It is basically impossible for her to return to her original appearance. We can only try to stabilize Miss Wang's emotional state and do our best to restore her skin to eighty percent of its original condition."
Hearing this, Wang Sihu’s pupils contracted. He crushed his cigarette into the ashtray with force and said coldly, "I understand." He hung up.
Just then, a man in uniform walked in. "Mr. Wang!"
"Speak."
The man lowered his head. "I investigated the person you asked about. Based on the photos from the shop's surveillance, we cross-referenced the national population database, but we couldn't find any information on him within the country."
"What did you say?" Wang Sihu stood up abruptly. "You're saying the national database has no information on him?"
This news left Wang Sihu stunned. In his position, he knew exactly what this meant. Either the man had never existed in the records of the Dragon Kingdom since birth, or his information was classified at a level far above his clearance.
A cold sweat instantly broke out on Wang Sihu’s back. The rage that had been burning in his chest evaporated.
The man swallowed hard. "Mr. Wang, if I may speak frankly, this person's identity is likely far more terrifying than we imagined. If we keep digging, I fear..."
"I know!" Wang Sihu interrupted, his eyes turning grim. He reached for the ashtray to throw it, but his newfound sense of caution kept him from acting on his anger. Remembering Guan Sheng’s movements during the day, his intuition told him that this was someone he could not afford to provoke!
But... he had ruined his daughter's face. How could he swallow this? Who on earth was he?
After a moment, Wang Sihu made a decision and dialed a number.
"Hello?"
"Old Chief, it's me, Wang Sihu. I need your help to investigate someone!"
In a rural villa in Jiangnan Province, an old man wearing a straw hat put down his hoe. "Ah, little Tiger. What kind of person could make you call me for help? Send me the photo."
"Yes, Old Chief. Sending it now." Wang Sihu operated his phone and responded.
The old man nodded and took out his phone. Initially, he didn't pay much attention, assuming it was just some arrogant scion of a noble family who had offended one of his own. But when he saw the photo, his hair stood on end. He collapsed to the ground in a state of shock, his phone flying out of his hand.
"Clatter!"
Hearing the sound, Wang Sihu’s heart sank. "Old Chief? Old Chief? Are you still there?"
The old man’s eyes were bulging. He forced himself to calm down, scrambled to pick up the phone, and said in a grave tone, "Why... why are you investigating him?"
Wang Sihu was stunned; the tone filled him with unease. "Old Chief, I..."
Before he could finish, the old man’s voice became frantic. He roared, "Little Tiger, I don't care what reason you have for investigating him. I will warn you only once."
Wang Sihu went pale. "Old Chief, please tell me..."
Then, he heard a voice from the phone, colder and more severe than anything he had ever heard before.
"Do not provoke him!"
"Do not provoke him!"
"Absolutely—do not—provoke him!"
