Which world? This thing is not of the human realm. With a flicker of thought, Zhang Kai sneered, “I’d very much like to know, which world do you hail from?”

The three-headed beast stared hard at Zhang Kai. “I am the guardian deity of the Beast Spirit Realm, the Three-Headed Xuan Chu. And you? According to the pact between our worlds, we are allies in both attack and defense, bound to advance and retreat together.”

A thought flashed through Zhang Kai’s mind, and he replied, “I come from the M78 World, of the Ultraman race. My name is Diga!”

“M78 World? Never heard of it,” the three-headed beast admitted, somewhat bewildered.

The middle-aged director and the several Taoists, however, exchanged strange glances at Zhang Kai. While few had actually watched it, everyone basically knew about Ultraman of the M78 Nebula.

He was clearly lying. They weren’t sure why, but everyone present understood one thing: Zhang Kai was the only one capable of standing against this monster. They had no choice but to rely on him.

“There are many worlds you don’t know of. Now, let me ask you—this region has already been claimed by my world. Why are you here?” Zhang Kai bluffed, his tone imposing.

The three-headed beast replied, “It was the natives of this world who brought me here. Ignorant and fearless, they dared to venture deep into my clan’s nest, and while I was dormant, they took me away.”

Zhang Kai frowned. “Since you’ve awakened, why haven’t you left?”

The beast’s tone was disgruntled. “Do you not know that under the Taboo, every existence is suppressed? My aura has yet to fully blend into this world. The slightest disturbance would draw the Taboo’s notice, and I would be annihilated instantly.”

Zhang Kai scoffed, “Coward.”

A terrifying aura flickered around the beast. “Are you insulting me?”

“To fear the Taboo—what else would you call that but cowardice? My race does not fear. Look at me, I can wield my powers precisely because my people resisted the Taboo, forcing It to make concessions. That’s why I can use my divine abilities,” Zhang Kai said, fabricating freely.

The three-headed beast stared at him in astonishment. There was no denying the truth—this man could indeed wield power.

But what sort of advanced world was this M78, to be able to confront the Taboo? That being had once swept through myriad realms, crushing countless races under its heel.

“Enough talk. Restrain your aura and do not interfere with the lives of the natives here. My people have great designs for this place, and no other race may disrupt them. Otherwise, do not blame us for ruthlessness; we will eradicate you and destroy your world.” Zhang Kai’s eyes flashed with a fierce light, his words heavy with threat.

The three-headed beast, once haughty, now hesitated. Having learned a little, and seeing Zhang Kai’s air of utter confidence, doubt crept in. Before understanding more about this M78 World, it seemed unwise to provoke him. Best to show weakness for now.

“Fine, I will restrain my aura. Until the Taboo’s suppression of this world is fully lifted, my kind will not reveal ourselves. But I have one condition: you must personally return me to my clan’s nest,” the beast said solemnly.

“That’s no problem.”

“Then it’s settled. I do not wish for any further accidents; otherwise, even at the risk of being destroyed by the Taboo, I will devastate this place.” The three-headed beast cast a vicious glare in the direction of the middle-aged director, then rapidly shrank down, transforming into a bronze totem with three beast heads.

Zhang Kai put the object away and turned to the director and his group. “It’s settled. I’m taking this thing with me. It’s not something you can deal with.”

“Of course, thank you, Master, thank you endlessly,” the director stammered, gratitude and relief mingling with a pang of regret. Truly, Old Zhou had foresight to bring such an expert—otherwise, disaster would have struck.

Zhang Kai replied, “No need. It is resolved. But I do not wish my identity to be known by outsiders. See to it.”

With that, he turned and left.

The director hesitated, as if wanting to say more.

“There’s no need for other thoughts, Director Zhang,” a Taoist murmured. “Such people are far beyond our reach.”

“I just hate to see talent slip away,” the director said with a bitter smile.

Leaving the museum, Zhang Kai asked for the site of the landslide, dismissed Sister Yun, and, seeing the disappointment in her eyes, departed without another word.

It was already afternoon. Zhang Kai made his way to the outskirts. As dusk approached, he transformed into Ultraman and soared directly into the sky.

Once again, this shattered Liu Erniang’s understanding of reality. What was this transformation? He wielded the Investiture of the Gods and could transform—how many secrets did this young man possess?

The three-headed beast, on the other hand, appeared unruffled, all the more convinced of Zhang Kai’s impressive origins.

Ultraman flew swiftly, and before long, he arrived at the landslide site. The area, spanning several kilometers, had been sealed off.

Fortunately, there were few people about, and Zhang Kai landed directly in the pit.

Here, he sensed an even denser evil aura. Yet, unlike Antique Street, this aura was entirely confined within the pit and had not leaked out at all.

Without betraying any emotion, Zhang Kai took out the three-headed beast. It instantly expanded to two meters tall and looked at Zhang Kai, saying, “Diga, though my clan suffered a mishap this time, it is a stroke of luck to have met you. It seems our races are destined to meet. Would you accept an invitation to visit my clan?”

Zhang Kai, having already resolved to uncover secrets unknown to him, smiled. “Of course.”

“Please.” The three-headed beast was delighted. To befriend such a powerful race was an auspicious beginning.

They entered through the pit. At first, there was modern equipment, but soon it gave way to a subterranean cavern.

As they walked, the three-headed beast explained, “My clan entered here fourteen hundred years ago, during the Myriad Races’ crusade against the Taboo. What about your people, Diga?”

“The crusade against the Taboo? I’ve honestly never heard of it. My people discovered this world by chance, intending to conquer it. But the Taboo proved quite formidable. Our Ancestor fought It for three months without a decisive outcome. In the end, the Taboo relented, agreeing that as long as we operated within the limits of this space, we could act freely. I am my people’s representative this time,” Zhang Kai lied without hesitation.

The three-headed beast believed him, exclaiming, “Your Ultramen are truly formidable, capable of standing against the Taboo. You have no idea how terrifying that being is—it once fought alone against all realms, countless races suffered at Its hands. Only when transcendent beings intervened did the Taboo suffer a setback. Our myriad worlds formed an alliance to strike at the Taboo, yet It was so crafty. Not only did we fail to destroy It, our vanguard was trapped in this world, forced to lie low.”

Feigning curiosity, Zhang Kai asked, “I’ve only heard my people speak of the Taboo; I’ve never encountered It myself. Is It truly so fearsome?”

The beast replied, “Fearsome beyond belief. Our alliance of myriad worlds, nearly a million elite, lost more than half to Its schemes. The survivors scattered and concealed themselves, not daring to show their faces. If I hadn’t met you, I’d have no way home.”

Zhang Kai said, “I’m the same. I possess great power, yet here it’s suppressed, and I can wield only a fraction of it. We must find a way to break the Taboo’s hold, or else it’s intolerable.”

The three-headed beast was overjoyed. “Diga, you’re absolutely right. That’s precisely my thinking. To have found such a kindred spirit—I must drink with you and then we can plot great things together.”
