"It seems your family is quite wealthy, Kai," Bai Jie said with a smile.

Zhang Kai replied curiously, "If I live off my parents, does that make me rich?"

"You have to have some capital to live off your parents. But I think that's not right—a man should have ambition, should strive for a career. That's what makes a good man," Bai Jie answered with a smile.

Zhang Kai nodded earnestly, "You're right, that's enlightening. I always feel something's off about my life—turns out it's the idleness. Thanks for the reminder. Tomorrow, I'll go hunting with my dad."

Go hunting? Up the mountain?

Bai Jie was taken aback. "Did your family buy a mountain?"

"Listen to yourself. Could you afford to buy a mountain? Of course not. We're talking about poaching. By the way, I find you very attractive, just my type. If you don't mind, marry me, and I'll take you hunting. It's very exciting... Hey, where are you going?"

Seeing Bai Jie get up, Zhang Kai hurriedly asked.

"To the restroom," Bai Jie said, not looking back as she left.

Zhang Kai chuckled and turned to another girl.

"Why aren't you going with her?"

The girl smiled, "Because I like you."

Zhang Kai raised an eyebrow, "But Bai Jie is the one on this blind date with me. Who are you?"

"I'm Bai Jie's best friend. She probably isn't interested in you, but I think you're great," she answered.

Zhang Kai laughed, "Tell me why."

"It's your aura. You're very charming. I've met many people, but none have your presence. Those rich and powerful types can't compare," she replied seriously.

Zhang Kai sighed, "So, you're attracted to my looks?"

She answered without hesitation, "Exactly. Being handsome makes up for everything. Bai Jie wants to marry into a good family and live well, but I don't need that. My dad owns a chain of supermarkets in the city, and I'm his only daughter. If you come with me, you can live off me—and my parents—without worries."

Zhang Kai smiled wryly, "Sorry, but I believe everything has its place. You're not on my schedule. If you're really interested, make an appointment first. Anyway, I'm leaving. I ordered snacks and tea, paid for them, so take your time."

With that, Zhang Kai got up.

The girl called after him, "I'm serious."

Zhang Kai replied, "So am I. I don't want to get married—it doesn't fit my life plan. Give up on that idea."

"Oh, that's even better! I don't want to get married either. That means we can just have fun," she said, her smile widening.

Zhang Kai frowned.

Looks like he met his match.

Damn, is it just because I'm good-looking that she wants a taste?

Too bad, I'm a man of principle—not interested.

"Sorry, I don't like girls who are too casual," Zhang Kai answered firmly, then walked away.

This time, the girl said nothing, but watched his back, licking her lips. "Handsome, good body, funny, definitely not some country bumpkin. Bai Jie was too impatient, gave up without understanding him. But she hasn't fully rejected him yet, so there's hope. If things go well, maybe we could have a threesome—collect them both."

Just as Zhang Kai stepped out of the tea house, a figure suddenly rushed from the side, colliding into him.

Zhang Kai reacted quickly, grabbing the person and dissipating the force.

Looking closely, Zhang Kai was startled—it was the boy from earlier.

He looked terrified.

Upon seeing Zhang Kai, the boy pleaded, "Brother, help me, help me!"

Zhang Kai raised an eyebrow, looking toward where the boy had come from. An old man was approaching quickly.

At that moment, the old man's aura was thick with darkness, his movements stiff as he walked.

The boy looked on the edge of tears.

Zhang Kai took him by the hand and hurried away.

The old man, expressionless, followed behind.

But Zhang Kai was much faster, and soon the old man was nowhere to be seen.

Half an hour later, on a bench in a small park.

Zhang Kai looked at the boy curled up and asked, "Who was that old man just now?"

The boy said nothing.

Zhang Kai prompted, "If you don't tell me, I'll leave."

"Don't go," the boy jumped up, grabbing Zhang Kai's sleeve.

"Then speak," Zhang Kai said.

The boy replied softly, "That was my grandfather."

"By blood?"

The boy nodded.

"But your grandfather... he's dead, isn't he?" Zhang Kai asked quietly.

The boy's eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Zhang Kai.

"You—how did you know?"

"What's so strange about that?"

The boy explained, "I've told many people, but no one believes me. They say I'm disrespectful. But my grandfather really did die—over a month ago. But one night, he came back."

As he spoke, fear appeared in his eyes and his voice trembled.

"Grandpa came back and started confining me. He wouldn't let me go to school or leave the house, followed me everywhere. I'm so scared. I called my dad, but he didn't believe me—just focused on work. He even asked Grandpa to supervise me more. And then there's that old woman—she wants to hurt me," the boy's eyes filled with tears.

"Old woman?"

"Yes, she knew Grandpa. Since I was little, she's always looked at me strangely. I don't like her, but she keeps bringing weird things for me to eat, saying it'll help me grow faster. I'm really scared," the boy said, aggrieved.

"What about your mother?"

The boy shook his head, "I've never seen her. Dad says she went abroad, but no contact. When I ask, Dad hits me, says I eat and drink well, just need to study hard and not think too much."

Zhang Kai sighed.

From this information, it was clear the boy was being targeted.

But it's only his account—can't trust it entirely.

Looking at the boy, Zhang Kai asked, "Kid, do you believe in light?"

The boy was puzzled, looking at Zhang Kai.

Zhang Kai smiled, "If you do, take me to see that old woman. You can't run forever. Only by solving the problem can you be safe."

The boy shook his head in fear, "I can't, I'm scared."

"Then I can't help you. I'll have to leave."

"Please, don't go. I beg you."

"Then take me to her."

The boy hesitated, then finally nodded, "I'll take you, but be careful, Brother. That old woman... she's really scary."

Zhang Kai smiled, "Don't worry, I'm quite capable myself."

With the boy leading the way, they soon arrived at a house.

It was an old villa, with a large tree inside, quite conspicuous and surprising to Zhang Kai.

The tree was obviously lifeless, yet its leaves were lush and green—a strange sight.

Especially the villa itself, which, under Zhang Kai's mystical gaze, revealed a unique energy flow and hidden secrets.

He hadn't expected such a small city to hide someone extraordinary.

"This is it. The old woman lives here, alone in this big house—it's eerie and frightening," the boy said timidly.

"Are you sure she's alone?" Zhang Kai asked, glancing at him.

The boy nodded, "I've been here a few times—just her. She's very reclusive."

"Good," Zhang Kai smiled.

He took out his phone and opened the first Iron Man movie.

At the start, Tony was a weapons fanatic, developing cluster bombs that destroyed a mountain with unimaginable power.

Now, Zhang Kai planned to borrow from that.

He scrolled to the missile launch scene, paused, and from the split cluster bomb, took one and tossed it into the villa.

Boom.

The explosion engulfed the villa in flames, the tree burning as well.

At the same time, the boy's eyes widened, bewildered, but soon terror appeared. His body aged rapidly, skin wrinkling, spine bending, and before Zhang Kai's eyes, he turned into a small, shriveled corpse, one hand reaching for Zhang Kai, frozen forever.

Zhang Kai scoffed, "Not tough at all."
