Chapter 131: Absolute Luck (1)
"I want one too..." said the Seventh Princess, looking at Ye Lang with a mischievous grin.
"Go away, go away. Where would I have room for a hug? How about a kiss instead?" Ye Lang replied. Aside from his head, he seemed to be completely occupied by two women.
"Alright!" The Seventh Princess gave him a swift, clean kiss. Naturally, it wasn't on the lips—just a peck on his confused face.
"...I was only joking! I haven't washed my face in days!" Ye Lang said blankly. And it was true; he had been trapped in here for two days, and there were clearly no washing facilities to be found.
"..." The Seventh Princess fell silent, then immediately spat, "Ptooey, ptooey! You little rascal, you're teasing me again!"
"I'm not, it was just an accident..." Ye Lang said sheepishly.
At this moment, Ye Lang took the opportunity to scan the room. "You're all here. That's better; now I don't have to go looking for you. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find you. Also, shouldn't you all be ahead of me?"
Ye Lang did not understand. He had clearly set out much later than they had, so how could he be ahead of them? The reason was actually quite simple: Ye Lang had been traveling with mercenaries and moving constantly, while Ye Chengtian and the others had to shake off pursuers and deal with various invitations, making their progress much slower than his.
As he scanned the room, Ye Lang intended to look away, but suddenly, he felt something was wrong.
In an instant, his gaze locked onto one person—or rather, two. He broke free from his mother and sister's embrace and stared at someone...
It was the female warrior!
"Mandy, what are you doing holding the Fatty?" Ye Lang's voice turned cold, simply because he saw the warrior holding a sword to Zhen Xiaoyan's throat.
This warrior was none other than Sister Mandy.
Ye Lang had originally addressed her as Sister Mandy, but seeing her hold Zhen Xiaoyan hostage, he dropped the "Sister" title entirely.
"I..." Seeing Ye Lang speak to her so coldly, Mandy felt a bit aggrieved. She had done this for his sake, not knowing he was the legendary Ye Lang.
"Regardless of your reasons, let her go!" Ye Lang said bluntly.
Mandy felt even more wronged, and she lowered her sword. Zhen Xiaoyan was released. In fact, Mandy had wanted to let her go the moment she realized the young master was Ye Lang, a close friend of Zhen Xiaoyan's. Why would she keep holding her? The situation had just been so sudden that she had momentarily forgotten!
"Fatty, lift your head..." As Zhen Xiaoyan approached, Ye Lang told her to look up, and she obediently complied.
"You're bleeding. It's nothing serious, it won't leave a scar." Ye Lang gently traced the bloody scratch on Zhen Xiaoyan's neck with his finger. As his hand moved, the scratch vanished completely.
Not even a trace remained, as if the skin had never been broken. It was a magical sight, though considering the boy's alchemy skills, everyone was quickly relieved of their surprise.
"Ye Lang, you can't blame Miss Mandy. She only held me hostage to try and trade for you. She didn't know your identity or that we were friends!" Zhen Xiaoyan said, keeping her head tilted up, unsure if she was allowed to look down yet. She didn't want Ye Lang to blame someone who had been good to him; that would be too cruel to Mandy.
"So that's how it was. Alright, you can look down now." Ye Lang understood Mandy's intentions. Seeing that Zhen Xiaoyan was fine, he apologized, "Sister Mandy, I'm sorry, I blamed you wrongly just now. And thank you for taking care of me these past few days. Now that I've found the people I was looking for, I won't trouble you any further!"
"No need for apologies or thanks. This is what I should have done; it is the duty of us mercenaries," Mandy shook her head and replied softly.
"I understand. You are a person of your word. But I don't get it—I wasn't in any danger, so why did you take such a risk by holding the Fatty?" Ye Lang asked, somewhat puzzled.
"Young Master, we didn't know you weren't in any danger! They took you away without a word, and for two days there was no news. Who knew what might have happened?" Mandy said, a bit annoyed.
"Didn't I tell you I was just going to play with them for a few days, and that you should just go on without worrying about me?" Ye Lang asked.
"Just go on? If we had left you behind, I doubt you'd have been able to catch up—you probably would have run back. Besides, how could you expect us not to worry? You..." Mandy countered.
"Miss Mandy, don't argue these points with him. You will never get a result!" the Seventh Princess said, shaking her head to stop Mandy from continuing.
"Indeed, he is a little muddle-head; you'll never get anywhere with him." Ye Lanyu nodded in agreement, then asked Ye Lang, "Little brother, why were you invited here by them? Did you do something?"
"I didn't do much. I just saw a gambling den, and on a whim, I wanted to lose some money, so I went in," Ye Lang replied.
Lose some money? That didn't sound right—surely he meant win some money. Those who didn't know Ye Lang's personality would think he had misspoke, but those who did knew it wasn't a slip of the tongue; the boy genuinely wanted to lose money.
"And did you win?" the Seventh Princess guessed. If he hadn't won, the King of Gaofei surely wouldn't have invited him here.
"Yes, I won. I even won their entire gambling den off them..." Ye Lang nodded, looking quite pained by the outcome.
The crowd was speechless. None of them could fathom where this boy's luck came from—to win an entire gambling den just like that.
The Seventh Brother's eyes lit up, and he praised, "Thirteen, well done! Now we have another asset!"
"A gambling den... Was it the Supreme Gambling Den?" a servant asked.
"I don't remember. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't." Ye Lang couldn't possibly recall such details; he hadn't paid any attention to those things at all.
"It must be the Supreme Gambling Den. That is the King's property. Perhaps that is why he invited you here—to win back his den while indulging in his gambling addiction," the servant continued.
"So that's it. I thought he had discovered my identity, which is why I came along with you. It turns out he just started gambling with me without a word. Gambling is gambling; this young master has never been afraid of anyone!" Ye Lang said, patting his chest.
From Ye Lang's words, Mandy vaguely realized that when he had told her not to get involved, it was because he didn't want to drag her down—he had wanted them to leave quickly.
