Chapter 155: Assassin (Part 2)
"I just said that I have no elemental attribute," Ye Lang replied.
"That's not what I'm asking. Whether you're good for nothing, I couldn't care less!" said Cold-Blood Five. Although people with no elemental attributes were quite rare, such rarity had no value.
"Oh, then it means I am immune to all poisons." Ye Lang didn't mind either way. After all, he wasn't the only one who had been called a good-for-nothing; against such remarks, he was completely immune.
"Are you really immune to all poisons?" Cold-Blood Five asked dubiously.
"Ask Cold-Blood Thirteen. Anyway, his poisons can't kill me," Ye Lang said casually, still without turning his head as he continued eating.
"If even Cold-Blood Thirteen's poisons can't kill you, then you really are immune to all poisons. How did you pull that off?" Cold-Blood Five asked.
"By eating medicine!" Ye Lang replied.
"What medicine did you eat?"
"A lot, it seems..." Ye Lang reeled off a massive list of drugs, causing Cold-Blood Five to immediately give up on the idea and decide to wait until Cold-Blood Thirteen finished his research.
Most of those drugs were bowel-rupturing poisons; how could the experienced Cold-Blood Five not know them? Why would he ever test such things on himself unless he had a death wish?
He also understood one thing now: why Cold-Blood Thirteen had brought Ye Lang back wasn't just because of his special constitution, but also because Cold-Blood Thirteen simply couldn't figure out what on earth was going on.
Since even Cold-Blood Thirteen couldn't figure it out, Cold-Blood Five very wisely abandoned the thought of trying it himself.
"Alright, say no more. Leave these matters for Cold-Blood Thirteen to handle; your life belongs to him, so I won't interfere. You can leave now," Cold-Blood Five issued the eviction order. Realizing that he couldn't touch Ye Lang, the only option was to chase him away.
"No way, I haven't finished eating yet." Ye Lang shook his head and buried his face back in his food.
"Aren't you afraid I'll kill you?" Cold-Blood Five said coldly.
"Afraid, but I'm even more afraid of starving!" Ye Lang replied offhandedly while continuing to eat.
What was this supposed to mean? Was this an intentional humiliation? Did he think she didn't dare to touch him?
Cold-Blood Five's face began to frost over, and she said chillingly, "Don't think that just because you have Cold-Blood Thirteen shielding you, you can act with impunity. I can kill you just as easily!"
"Kill me? Why?" Ye Lang stopped at that moment, looking somewhat dazed as he asked. He simply couldn't understand why this Cold-Blood Five would want to kill him out of the blue.
He knew Cold-Blood Five was someone who killed without blinking an eye, but he figured even such a person needed a reason to kill. He hadn't offended him, so why would he want him dead?
"Why? I, Cold-Blood Five, kill whoever I want! In this world, no one has ever dared to ask why!" Cold-Blood Five said icily.
"You can't go around doing that. How can you kill purely based on your own whims? If you're going to kill, you should kill the bad guys, the ones who deserve to die," Ye Lang said with utmost seriousness.
"...Are you an idiot?" Cold-Blood Five stared at Ye Lang and asked.
"My sister and Little Qi often call me a little idiot, so I suppose I am," Ye Lang answered foolishly.
"..." Cold-Blood Five was struck speechless. This was a situation she had never encountered before; what was she supposed to do with such a little idiot?
Kill him? That somehow felt a bit wrong—the little idiot was actually kind of cute. *Bah, bah, what on earth am I saying?*
"Oh! So you're not Cold-Blood Five after all! What are you putting on an act for? You scared the life out of me, I thought I'd run into a murderous demon!" At that moment, getting a clearer look at Cold-Blood Five, Ye Lang instantly dismissed the other's identity and patted his chest in relief.
Cold-Blood Five froze for a moment, thinking to herself, *You were scared? Looking at how you behaved just a second ago, where on earth did you look scared?*
And besides, what did he mean by "not Cold-Blood Five"?
"I am Cold-Blood Five!" Cold-Blood Five stated.
"Go on with you. You're Cold-Blood Five? And I'm the Thirteen Cold-Blood Eagles!" Ye Lang waved his hand dismissively, as if telling her to go play elsewhere, and then continued, "By the way, the food you cook is genuinely good. Among women, you can definitely be considered a culinary master."
*Among women? Why did Ye Lang use that word?*
"The Thirteen Cold-Blood Eagles is our designation!" Cold-Blood Five didn't dwell on Ye Lang's words, merely stating it coldly.
"Uh..." Ye Lang hadn't expected that the combination name he casually blurted out would match the titles of the first thirteen people in the Cold-Blood Organization by sheer coincidence—a title that had been passed down through generations.
The Thirteen Cold-Blood Eagles were actually the leaders of the Cold-Blood Organization. Anyone ranked fourteenth and below belonged to subordinate members, with the thirteenth rank serving as a clear watershed of authority.
Precisely because of this, Ye Lang could wander around here as he pleased; because he was someone under Cold-Blood Thirteen's protection, he was not someone ordinary people could afford to offend.
Yet, why on earth didn't Ye Lang believe the person in front of him was Cold-Blood Five?
"Look at this! I am Cold-Blood Five!" Cold-Blood Five pointed to the number on her cloak. A prominent "Five" was clearly embroidered upon it—something no one here would ever dare to tamper with.
"Stop pretending. Just whip up a few more dishes and let me have a proper meal. Oh, and where do you live? Can I come find you in the future?" Ye Lang still found it hard to believe. He hadn't considered that the characters on the cloak couldn't be forged casually, nor had he thought about how, if she weren't Cold-Blood Five, the people outside wouldn't be so terrified.
"Find me for what?" Cold-Blood Five was taken aback.
"To freeload meals, of course!" Ye Lang stated his purpose simply and clearly.
"..., you really have a death wish! Why on earth do you think I'm not Cold-Blood Five?" Cold-Blood Five seemed completely defeated by Ye Lang, asking with a trace of curiosity.
"Because you're a woman! Even though you're wearing a mask and a cloak, I can guarantee that you're a girl under twenty years old!" Ye Lang looked at Cold-Blood Five and said with absolute certainty.
That was right—this was the exact reason why Ye Lang refused to believe the person before him was Cold-Blood Five. She was female, and furthermore, a young girl not even twenty years old, possibly even younger than him.
One had to ask: how could he possibly believe that such a young girl was the legendary, merciless demon who terrified everyone within the Cold-Blood Organization from top to bottom, the very person Cold-Blood Thirteen had specifically singled out?
Therefore, Ye Lang concluded that the cold girl radiating intense killing intent right before his eyes was definitely not Cold-Blood Five!
"You—how did you know?" The girl who was indeed Cold-Blood Five looked at Ye Lang in astonishment, though she wasn't surprised that Ye Lang doubted her identity, but rather that he could actually pierce through her disguise and discern her age.
As for her gender, that was quite easy to guess; her physique and voice easily gave it away, and the entire Cold-Blood Organization knew she was female—it was an open secret.
However, precisely because it was common knowledge, no one paid it any mind, nor had anyone bothered to mention it to Ye Lang, feeling there was simply no need to state the obvious.
