Ye Lang and Zhen Xiaoyan’s scene drew attention from those around them. At first, the onlookers were unsure what was happening; they assumed Ye Lang was once again tormenting Zhen Xiaoyan, this time even making her cry. Only later did they learn the truth—it was because of a breakup. Upon discovering the reason, everyone realized that Zhen Xiaoyan truly cared for Mo Ya; otherwise, she wouldn't have cried for so long.

At the same time, they felt this was the best possible outcome. Many began to cheer and celebrate, for there were not a few who wished to pursue Zhen Xiaoyan. Now that she had broken up, it meant their opportunity had arrived.

“Women truly are made of water—she’s been crying for so long, why won’t she stop?” Ye Lang frowned, speaking with little tact.

“It’s almost over…” Zhen Xiaoyan sobbed, attempting to hold back her tears, though the process was still lengthy and Ye Lang grew impatient.

“Fatty, look at me…” Ye Lang suddenly said.

“What?” Zhen Xiaoyan looked at him, confused.

She fell silent, and then—

“Haha… Ye Lang, you… haha…”

Her tear-stained smile seemed breathtakingly beautiful at that moment, though the only one who witnessed it was the slow-witted fool before her.

But Zhen Xiaoyan felt that perhaps it was enough if only he saw her like this.

What made Zhen Xiaoyan suddenly burst into laughter, of course, was Ye Lang’s grotesque face—his attempt at a silly expression!

Had it been anyone else, Zhen Xiaoyan would not have laughed so freely, nor would she have forgotten her troubles so quickly. Ye Lang had never made faces before, nor had he ever comforted her, so she was surprised and allowed herself to let go, at least for a moment.

She cried and laughed simultaneously…

“All right, no more tears!” Ye Lang dropped the silly face, gently wiped away her tears, his movements intimate and natural.

“No, I want to cry!” Zhen Xiaoyan pouted, then whispered in a voice only she could hear, “You have to keep comforting me!”

“What? Forget it, stop crying. I’ll help you vent your anger—I’ll find someone to deal with Mo Ya!” Ye Lang patted her shoulder, speaking as if he meant it.

“No! That would be trouble for you…” Zhen Xiaoyan blurted out, surprising even herself.

“What trouble? If I kill Mo Ya, I can take responsibility! Besides, even if I couldn’t, if I wanted to kill him, I would—he broke your heart!” Ye Lang spoke calmly, his tone making it impossible to tell whether he was serious or joking.

“Forget it, I think I understand now. I did like him—but not as deeply as I imagined! With Sha Lan in the picture, even if we didn’t break up today, the result would have been the same sooner or later!” Perhaps because she had cried and let go, Zhen Xiaoyan saw things clearly.

She saw her own issues, Mo Ya’s shortcomings, and Sha Lan’s role—but she still didn’t understand Ye Lang!

She had escaped Mo Ya’s trap, but with Ye Lang, she remained ensnared!

“If you already understand, why did you cry for so long?” Ye Lang asked, puzzled.

“I cried because I really did like him. I’m heartbroken—and it’s my first love. Can’t I cry?” Zhen Xiaoyan retorted.

“Well, I suppose you can. Go on… Actually, you’ve cried enough. Listen, first loves rarely end well. Statistics show most first romances aren’t genuine love, but some other form of affection.”

“Come on, let’s get back to class!” Ye Lang waved his hand and turned toward the classroom, Zhen Xiaoyan quickly following.

“Um, Ye Lang…” Zhen Xiaoyan grabbed his sleeve, speaking softly.

“What is it?” Ye Lang continued walking without turning.

“I feel unwilling, being dumped like this!” Zhen Xiaoyan said bitterly.

“I already said, we could deal with Mo Ya—but you won’t let me.” Ye Lang replied.

“Well…” Zhen Xiaoyan murmured, “Could you make him break up with Sha Lan instead…”

“That’s possible, but is it necessary?” Ye Lang asked.

“Of course! It’s all because of Sha Lan that I got dumped—I won’t let her off easily, and Mo Ya dared to leave me, so I’ll make him suffer too!” Zhen Xiaoyan gritted her teeth, her voice full of resentment.

Never offend a woman—Ye Lang reaffirmed this truth!

“Am I being too harsh… Maybe I should forget it, pretend I never said anything.” Zhen Xiaoyan quickly backed down. She was kind and tolerant, so much so that even those who hurt her, she couldn’t bring herself to harm too deeply.

“You silly fatty, always pitying others! But I’ll never let a grudge go unanswered. Since they made you cry for so long, I won’t let them off so easily.” Ye Lang patted her hand, his gaze thoughtful as he looked ahead.

“Don’t kill them, and don’t hurt them badly… Maybe just a light injury…” Zhen Xiaoyan said hurriedly.

“Relax, I’m only going to teach them a small lesson!” Ye Lang smiled.

“That’s best… Strange, why is it getting dark…” Zhen Xiaoyan said suddenly.

Yet the weather remained bright and sunny, without the slightest sign of darkness.

“Daydreaming in broad daylight—the sky’s just fine… Fatty, fatty…”

Suddenly, Zhen Xiaoyan went limp against Ye Lang, completely fainting.

“Could it be she’s suffered too much of a blow?” Ye Lang caught her, checked her pulse, and quickly discovered the cause—though it was so absurd that one could only sigh.

She had fainted from hunger!

“Silly girl, you never pay attention to your own body. Crying for so long and not eating a thing.” Ye Lang took out a small medicine bottle, tipped out a pill, placed it in Zhen Xiaoyan’s mouth, and helped her swallow it with water.

It was a fasting pill, a product of alchemy, convenient and practical—one pill would keep a person from needing food for ten days; only water was necessary.

Of course, the pill was expensive and difficult to make—otherwise, there would be no starving people in the world.

Ye Lang had prepared plenty of these pills for Zhen Xiaoyan, enough for her to go a hundred days without food, one hundred pills in total, costing him quite a few gold coins; the expense would pain Zhen Xiaoyan several times over.

He had prepared them as emergency rations for her, in case she didn’t have time to eat, so she could take one to prevent fainting.
