“Hmph! You spoke so nicely before, telling me to eat more…” Zhen Xiaoyan watched Ye Lang eating her food, a warmth blooming in her heart, but outwardly, she still refused to give him a pleasant expression.

“That’s why you need to make more. Don’t be afraid, if you’re short of money, I’ll give you some,” said Ye Lang.

“I don’t want your money. Who do you think I am to you…” Zhen Xiaoyan retorted immediately.

“A cook, of course! Don’t forget, you’ll be making meals for me your whole life. Don’t worry—for my own sake, I’ll take care of you forever!” Ye Lang responded, blankly.

“You…”

A cook? For life? Take care of you?

These words left everyone stunned. Had their relationship progressed so quickly? Impossible! If that were the case, why would Ye Lang let Zhen Xiaoyan chase after Mo Ya?

God, tell me—what is going on here?

The minds of everyone present were in chaos, unable to make sense of the relationship between Ye Lang and Zhen Xiaoyan, or what sort of play they were performing together!

Yet one thing was certain: Mo Ya would surely be embarrassed…

But the pair paid no attention to the opinions of others, continuing to act in ways that made people envy, dumbfounded, and confused all at once!

“Hey, fatty, do you have any more of this?” Ye Lang asked after finishing one dish.

“Here, take it all!” As usual, Zhen Xiaoyan gave her portion to Ye Lang first. Though she always claimed she wouldn’t, or pretended to snatch it back, whenever Ye Lang wanted something, she would always give it to him.

“Hmph! Now how are you going to compete with me for Mo Ya? If he sees you two like this, would he still choose you?” Sha Lan thought secretly.

Not just her—everyone felt that Zhen Xiaoyan and Mo Ya would have a hard time coming together. And this wasn’t a conclusion drawn only after Ye Lang’s arrival today; it could only be said—

Three feet of ice is not frozen in a single day!

Over the past month, Mo Ya’s attitude toward Zhen Xiaoyan had changed—starting from being moved, then growing to like her, then falling passionately in love, always appearing as a couple and making others envious. During that time, Sha Lan never had the chance to intervene!

Then, as time passed, problems began to surface. Zhen Xiaoyan had a very serious issue that affected her relationship with Mo Ya.

Because of this, Mo Ya’s passion for her gradually faded, turning cold, while Sha Lan naturally found her way in, spending much more time with Mo Ya than Zhen Xiaoyan did.

What exactly was Zhen Xiaoyan’s problem?

First, though she and Mo Ya were in love, she had never had any physical contact with him—not a kiss, not a hug, not even holding hands, in fact, not even a touch.

Fine, this could be considered a girl’s modesty. Everyone saw that she made a stunning entrance holding Ye Lang’s hand, but that was chalked up to special circumstances!

But the biggest problem came later: during their dates, Zhen Xiaoyan always brought up Ye Lang, and repeatedly left because of him, with the excuse that she had to cook for Ye Lang.

Anyone would find this intolerable. Even if the other person loved them deeply and was utterly loyal, it would still be unbearable!

This was Zhen Xiaoyan’s greatest issue. Vaguely, she already regarded Ye Lang as more important than anyone else—even more than the person she loved!

Yet she was certain she had no romantic feelings for Ye Lang—not even a trace!

Her feelings for Ye Lang were those of a confidant, of deep gratitude!

Ye Lang had given her a new lease on life, provided her with what she desired most, and he understood her better than anyone. While this was partly because others didn’t know her well, it couldn’t change the fact!

For someone like this, some people choose to forget, others remember forever, and some repay in kind. She chose not only to repay in full, but also to give him a place that no one else could reach!

But this hindered her love, and more seriously, she hadn’t yet realized the problem!

Just then, someone suddenly rushed in, heading straight for Ye Lang, but before Ye Lang noticed, Zhen Xiaoyan had already blocked the newcomer.

It was an unremarkably dressed girl, radiating simplicity and out of place in the noble setting. She was young, perhaps thirteen or fourteen at most.

“Why won’t you listen? I told you, he won’t agree!” Zhen Xiaoyan seemed to know the girl and had discussed some topic with her several times.

“You’re the one saying he won’t. How do I know you aren’t just keeping him from me? Don’t treat him as if he belongs to you! Don’t try to monopolize him!” The girl’s voice rang clear and bright, with a hint of anger and a maturity unusual for her age.

“You’re talking nonsense! I just don’t want him bothered with pointless things!” Zhen Xiaoyan replied with equal irritation, though it was unclear if her anger was due to Ye Lang being disturbed, or the girl’s words.

“How can this be pointless? It’s good for him!” the girl insisted.

“That’s exactly why he won’t agree…” Zhen Xiaoyan said helplessly, which puzzled the girl.

“Whatever, let me go to him now!”

“No.”

“You’re so overbearing, it’s just a meeting, what harm could it do?”

“No…”

And Ye Lang, the subject of their dispute, was still eating, oblivious to the quarrel happening on his behalf as everyone else looked on helplessly.

“Hey, fatty, what are you doing? Why are you blocking my way?” Ye Lang finally noticed, moving Zhen Xiaoyan aside.

“Huh, who’s this little girl? Is she your sister?”

“No…” Zhen Xiaoyan shook her head, about to explain further, but was interrupted by the girl.

“I wouldn’t have such heartless sister! She won’t even help with the smallest favor!” The girl pouted angrily.

“Oh…” Ye Lang replied indifferently, then stood up and walked toward the door.

Everyone knew exactly what he was doing: he was going for a stroll, then a nap on a patch of grass—his usual habit.

The girl stood dazed for a moment, realizing she had been completely ignored. She suddenly felt that Ye Lang had only asked out of politeness. Even if she were Zhen Xiaoyan’s sister, it wouldn’t make him pay special attention—at most, he’d just greet her.
