Chapter Sixty-Two: The Timely Arrival of Steward Mu!
Huaxia Military Command Center.
Seeing Chairman Tian’s furrowed brow, the young secretary standing beside him smiled and said, “Chairman, there’s no need to worry. Inspector Ye and his team had a very smooth trip.”
Chairman Tian waved his hand dismissively. “This world is far more complex than you imagine. You don’t understand, you simply don’t understand!”
With that, Tian Zhong closed his eyes, his fingers tapping restlessly on the armrest of his chair.
Boom—
Suddenly, the waters near Fusang erupted, and a dark figure burst forth from the waves. When the figure came to a halt and hovered above the sea, it became clear: this was a monstrous being, seemingly carved out of wood. It stood three meters tall, with a human body and a dog's head—identical to the statue worshipped by the Emperor of Nine Origins.
The creature lingered on the water for a moment, then vanished in a flash, soaring toward the land of Fusang.
Less than an hour later, Yang Ye and his party appeared near the capital city. Kyoto, the largest city in Fusang, boasted a population of over ten million. Due to frequent earthquakes, the buildings were not tall. Even after Huaxia’s military carried out targeted strikes, smoke still billowed from various places around Kyoto, and the city’s residents were in a state of panic.
Yang Ye looked toward the northern part of the city. Through the haze, a small section of the imperial palace came into view.
After a brief pause, Yang Ye raised his hand.
Hoo—Boom—
Just as he was about to signal his men to storm the palace, a shadow suddenly streaked through the air, crashing heavily into the ground just a few dozen meters ahead.
A blast of wind swept over them. Yang Ye and Long Xiaoqing stood firm, but the two hundred men behind them staggered back several steps.
“What is that thing?!”
When they saw the sudden intruder—this monstrous being with a human body and a dog’s head—Yang Ye exclaimed in astonishment.
From the creature’s body emanated a powerful, oppressive force that stood before Yang Ye like a mountain. As Yang Ye sought to overcome it, an intense sense of helplessness welled up within him.
The monster swept its blue-glowing eyes over Yang Ye and Long Xiaoqing, then spoke suddenly, “I am not a thing. I am the guardian of this world. You have broken the peace—leave now, and I will not hold it against you.”
“Guardian…” Yang Ye murmured.
The monster replied, “Correct! Our existence prevents large-scale wars. This is for your own good. Humanity on Earth is forbidden from committing acts of destruction.”
Faced with the creature’s oppressive aura, Yang Ye clenched his fists and ground his teeth. “I don’t need you meddling in my affairs!”
That was Yang Ye’s temperament—he would never submit to force.
The creature’s threat only fueled his irritation.
“In that case, I must destroy you to maintain peace.”
With that, the monster’s massive form flickered, appearing instantly before Yang Ye. A giant fist crashed down upon him.

With a thunderous crash, Yang Ye was struck by the monster and sent flying like a cannonball, hurtling several hundred meters before slamming into a massive boulder. The tremendous impact embedded him deep within the stone.
Though the power of his Sunfire Gloves shielded his body, Yang Ye’s head spun, and his starforce roiled violently within, leaving him with serious internal injuries.
Blood burst from Yang Ye’s mouth as he lay embedded in the rock, his body trembling as he shattered the stone encasing him.
Despite his injuries, Yang Ye had not lost his fighting spirit. His starforce rapidly mended his wounds.
Witnessing this, Zhou Hun, Mao Li, and the others were wide-eyed with shock.
It was the first time they’d seen Inspector Ye take such a beating.
If that punch had landed on any of them… Zhou Hun and his companions could hardly imagine the outcome.
“Courting death!”
Seeing that Yang Ye was not mortally wounded, Long Xiaoqing shouted, her body spinning as she launched a whip-like kick at the monster.
Bang—
Her leg struck the creature’s waist with a dull thud.
It was her most powerful attack.
Yet the monster remained unmoved, and instead, Long Xiaoqing was sent reeling backward by the rebound.
After flipping through the air several times, she flashed forward, firing another kick at the creature’s head.
The monster punched.
Boom—
Its fist landed squarely on Long Xiaoqing’s abdomen.
Like Yang Ye, she was sent flying, crashing heavily to the ground.
Although she did not spit blood, as she emerged from the rubble, her movements slowed and countless cracks marred her skin.
“You are no match for me. I gave you a chance to leave; now you must die,” the monster said coolly, striding toward Yang Ye.
Zhou Hun, Mao Li, and the others exchanged determined glances.
Clearly, they had resolved to attack the monster, to buy Yang Ye and Long Xiaoqing time to escape.
Yet most of the group recoiled in terror, retreating further.

In such circumstances, only a handful were willing to risk their lives for Yang Ye.
“You are no match for it—run!” Yang Ye, moved by the look in Zhou Hun’s eyes, waved his hand and shouted loudly.
“Inspector Ye, but—”
Hoo—
Before Zhou Hun could finish, a whistling sound pierced the air.
Another shadow flew in.
Then, with a resounding crash, the enormous monster—standing three meters tall—was knocked into the air and, like Yang Ye and Long Xiaoqing, slammed heavily to the ground.
“Wood Steward!”
When Yang Ye saw who had struck down the monster, he cried out in delight.
The Wood Steward, clad in black, nodded at Yang Ye, then turned to the fallen monster.
The monster climbed to its feet, striding to a spot twenty meters from the Wood Steward, its blue eyes sweeping over him.
After a moment, the monster spoke, “Kindred, you should not interfere in this matter.”
The Wood Steward replied coolly, “This affair is not my concern. But you have injured my lady; that, I must address.”
“They are destroying peace and will ruin this world. If you hinder me, you too will be destroyed,” the monster said, its blue eyes flashing.
The Wood Steward’s tone remained calm. “You guard the world; I guard my lady. Even if she wished to destroy the Earth, I would not intervene. But now you threaten her, so I must destroy you first.”
With that, the Wood Steward stepped forward, raising his hand and pressing down upon the monster from afar.
An invisible force materialized in the air, descending upon the monster like a mountain.
The monster’s blue eyes suddenly gleamed tenfold brighter; it raised its hands to support the invisible weight pressing upon it.
Alas, its strength was lacking.
A creaking sound, like wood being crushed, came from the monster’s body as its powerful arms slowly bent.
Suddenly, with a thunderous crack, the monster’s body shattered.
As its form broke apart, two blue crystals shot out, circling in the air before flying off in opposite directions.
The Wood Steward leaped skyward, flickered twice, and caught the two blue crystals in his hands.
“Young master, young lady, your servant will take his leave.”
With these words, the Wood Steward became a streak of black light and vanished in an instant.
