Chapter Seventy-Eight: Sister’s Boyfriend!
Having acknowledged Yang Ye as his master, Nezha naturally needed to leave this place.
Everything in the laboratory was to be taken along, for these were the experimental instruments Nezha had painstakingly created since arriving on Earth. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this laboratory was the most advanced biological facility on the entire planet. Just dismantling and packing the equipment took Nezha, wielding all four of his arms, a full three days. During this time, Yang Ye and Long Xiaoqing could only serve as porters.
Outside, the beast Nezha had named "Ninety-Nine" stood guard. No cultivator at the star-level could breach its defense. The reason for its name was simple: it was Nezha’s ninety-ninth experiment, and the one he was most satisfied with.
In fact, a group of star-level cultivators, unwilling to give up after seeing Yang Ye and Long Xiaoqing enter the passage, besieged Ninety-Nine for some time. After suffering heavy casualties, they finally accepted reality: with their current strength, it was impossible to kill this super-star-level beast. They had no choice but to withdraw.
All the instruments and a vast collection of specimens from the laboratory were stowed away by Yang Ye and Long Xiaoqing into their storage rings. Once everything was packed, Nezha opened another exit, and the three of them left the laboratory.
Standing atop a mountain, Yang Ye gazed into the deep valley ahead and frowned, "Now that we’re leaving, what about Ninety-Nine?"
He could see a large gathering of cultivators near the valley. Not only Americans, but also practitioners from other countries who had received the news had come. There were at least over two hundred star-level cultivators nearby.
Yang Ye thought to himself: if nuclear weapons still existed in this world, perhaps the Americans would have tried to use them against Ninety-Nine. A super-star-level beast core was an irresistible temptation for star-level cultivators.
Human ingenuity was boundless; if Ninety-Nine were left unattended, Yang Ye knew the cultivators would certainly find a way to destroy it.
Nezha grinned and whistled.
A thunderous explosion echoed.
The valley suddenly burst open.
A beastly roar followed.
Ninety-Nine burst forth from the shattered rocks. Its massive back trembled, sprouting a pair of enormous wings, and it soared into the sky. It circled overhead for a moment, then shot straight upward, vanishing into the clouds.
"Ninety-Nine will head for the sea," Nezha said with a smile, "It can survive perfectly well in water."
The vast ocean remained a realm humans could not yet explore deeply; hiding Ninety-Nine in its depths was indeed the best option.
Watching Ninety-Nine disappear at such speed, Yang Ye was astonished. Its ability to grow wings was surprising enough—who would have thought it could thrive in the ocean as well!
Seeing Yang Ye’s stunned expression, Nezha boasted, "Ninety-Nine is my proudest creation on Earth—of course it’s a tri-habitat all-rounder!"
"Besides those abilities, what else can it do?" Yang Ye asked, curious.
Previously, he had already witnessed Ninety-Nine’s combat prowess: it could spew fire and poison, unleash high-voltage electricity, and attack in countless ways.
Nezha replied, "Its greatest strength, master, you’ve already seen."
Yang Ye immediately understood. Nezha was referring to Ninety-Nine’s remarkable regenerative abilities.
"If only human cultivators possessed such power," Yang Ye murmured.
"That’s entirely possible!" Nezha declared. "My research has always aimed to create such a potion. And I’m very close to success!"
...
"Sis, I’m back!"
Yang Ye and Long Xiaoqing brought Nezha to the Xia family estate.
By now, Nezha had dismissed two of his arms and looked just like an ordinary, cherubic little boy.
"Thank heavens! Xiao Ye, you finally returned safe. I heard many people died there these past two days, and I couldn’t reach your phone…" Yang Yu was visibly moved as she saw Yang Ye return.
After reprimanding Yang Ye, Yang Yu turned to Nezha and asked, "Where is this child from? Don’t tell me—"
Yang Ye laughed. "You’re mistaken, sis. He’s not my or Xiaoqing’s child. We found him on the road."
Nezha rolled his eyes at Yang Tian’s explanation, then smiled sweetly at Yang Yu and Xia Li, "Hello, beautiful aunties! My name is Nezha."
Yang Yu crouched and patted Nezha’s head, "Nezha, you’re truly adorable."
Nezha giggled.
Xia Li promptly pulled out a handful of candies from her coat pocket and offered them to Nezha.
"Thank you, Auntie!" Nezha said cheerfully.
Seeing the candies in Nezha’s hands, Long Xiaoqing’s eyes sparkled. She moved like lightning, snatching a few from Nezha’s grasp.
Nezha became indignant, glaring at Long Xiaoqing, "Those are mine! Give them back!"
Long Xiaoqing shot him a fierce look.
Startled, Nezha quickly grinned, "Little Auntie, I’m just kidding! You can have them all."
With that, he handed the candies to Long Xiaoqing.
Only then was Long Xiaoqing satisfied, grabbing the sweets without hesitation, peeling the wrappers, and popping them into her mouth.
Seeing this scene, Yang Yu and Xia Li both laughed.
At this moment, Xia Li looked at Yang Ye and said, "Xiao Ye, your sister has been worried sick these past two days! She even neglected her own love life!"
"Oh?" Yang Ye’s eyes lit up. "What about her boyfriend?"
Xia Li turned to the villa’s main door and called, "Haotian, come out!"
Her words were scarcely finished when a man in his thirties, wearing sunglasses and exuding a gentle air, stepped out and stood beside Yang Yu.
Xia Li introduced, "This is Bai Haotian, your sister’s boyfriend. Haotian, this is Yang Yu’s brother, Yang Ye, and Yang Ye’s wife, Long Xiaoqing. The little one is Nezha."
"Hello, Xiao Ye!" Bai Haotian extended his hand to Yang Ye.
Yang Ye shook his hand in greeting.
As for Long Xiaoqing and Nezha, Bai Haotian nodded, "Hello! Hello!"
Long Xiaoqing remained silent, unwilling to acknowledge unfamiliar men.
Nezha smiled at Bai Haotian, "Hello, Uncle!"
And so, introductions were made.
From the moment Bai Haotian appeared, Yang Ye had been observing him. Bai Haotian was not a cultivator; he had a decent appearance but was somewhat introverted.
"The wind is strong outside. Let’s talk indoors," Xia Li said with a smile.
Yang Ye could see his sister cared for Bai Haotian; as they entered, she took his arm. It was a clear sign.
After chatting in the living room for a while, Yang Ye stood and said to Bai Haotian, "Mr. Bai, may I have a word with you?"
"Of course," Bai Haotian replied, smiling.
Yang Yu glared at Yang Ye.
Yang Ye smiled, "Relax, sis! I’m not going to bite him."
The two headed up to the rooftop terrace.
"Mr. Bai, has my sister told you about her tragic past?" Yang Ye asked directly.
Bai Haotian nodded, "I know. She suffered a lot those years."
"Why do you love her?" Yang Ye pressed.
He’d already learned Bai Haotian’s background—he worked for the Xia family, managing their finances.
Bai Haotian answered, "Xiao Ye, you may find it hard to believe, but from the moment I first met your sister, I fell for her. As for why, I can’t say."
Looking into Bai Haotian’s eyes, Yang Ye could tell he was sincere. He nodded, "Alright! Brother-in-law, I wish you happiness!"
Bai Haotian was stunned.
He had expected Yang Ye to disapprove, but Yang Ye had agreed so easily.
After all, Yang Ye was a cultivator, and cultivators usually looked down on ordinary people.
Seeing Bai Haotian’s surprise, Yang Ye smiled, "As long as you get along, whether you’re a cultivator or not doesn’t matter. Come, let’s head back."
With that, Yang Ye shoved his hands in his pockets and strode into the stairwell.
