“What the hell is wrong with Jiang Yi? He abandoned you on your third wedding anniversary to keep Lin Xiaoxiao company, and you’re just going to swallow that?”

“Doesn’t he know Lin Xiaoxiao is your father’s illegitimate daughter?”

Her best friend, Shen Lin, was so furious she looked ready to explode. Qin Wanyi silently exhaled a ring of smoke without saying a word.

Jiang Yi was her husband.

In name only.

Because his heart belonged to someone else—his unattainable first love.

On their third wedding anniversary, the moment Jiang Yi heard that Lin Xiaoxiao had returned to the country, he left Qin Wanyi sitting alone in the restaurant and hurried away in full view of everyone.

Unable to stand watching her suffer, Shen Lin dragged her to a private club and ordered more than a dozen male escorts in one go.

With a grand wave of her hand, she sent most of them over to Qin Wanyi’s side, keeping only one for herself. Her eyes were red as she said, “Don’t be sad, Yibao. So what if it’s only a man? I have plenty here. I guarantee there are enough to make your eyes spin!”

The man nearest to Qin Wanyi knew exactly how to please. He caught her hand and guided it beneath his shirt, his voice low and suggestive.

“Don’t think about anyone else, sweetheart. Show me a little affection instead…”

Qin Wanyi did not refuse. Through the swirling smoke, she half-lifted her eyelids and studied the man’s face, which bore a faint resemblance to Jiang Yi’s.

She genuinely wondered: was this sort of thing really so enjoyable?

Jiang Yi certainly seemed to think so.

He loved to play, and he was very good at it. There had never been a shortage of women around him. When he came home the night before, the scent of unfamiliar perfume still clung to him.

Finding it disgusting, she had kicked him straight out of bed.

Jiang Yi had raked a hand through his hair and sneered. “Qin Wanyi, marrying you was the worst misfortune of my entire life!”

“Likewise,” she had replied calmly.

Yet inside, she could not help feeling sorry for herself.

They were famous throughout the capital’s elite circle as a “pure-hatred couple.” They had been mortal enemies since childhood.

No one knew that Qin Wanyi had fallen for him long ago.

The first time she got her period and stained her school uniform, Jiang Yi had silently taken off his jacket and tied it around her waist. He had then beaten up several boys in their class who had laughed at her.

Qin Wanyi had decided to write him a love letter and confess her feelings. Before she could give it to him, Jiang Yi had torn it apart with undisguised disgust.

Then Lin Xiaoxiao had appeared, and the relationship between the two of them had become even more bitter and explosive.

As she was thinking about it, the private-room door was suddenly pushed open.

A man stood in the doorway, tall and imposing, most of his face hidden in shadow. His expression was impossible to read, yet Qin Wanyi could sense the quiet, composed gaze resting upon her.

She curled her lips and crooked a finger.

“Come here.”

Pei Younian walked over. Amid the astonished and bewildered looks around him, he slowly crouched down.

“Miss.”

A delicately packaged little cake appeared in his hand.

It was the cake she had ordered someone to buy just moments ago.

The pastry shop was at least thirty kilometers away, yet he had actually gone and brought it back.

Shen Lin slapped her forehead. “How could I have forgotten? You still have such a perfect man beside you!”

“Even your bodyguard is better than your husband. Yibao, have you never thought of giving him a proper title?” She pointed toward his lowered brows and peerlessly handsome face.

“Just look at that face. Even I’m tempted. I heard someone offered five million and you still refused. Are you really just going to stare at him longingly every day?” she demanded, exasperated by Qin Wanyi’s refusal to understand.

Qin Wanyi lowered her head and asked him, “Do you want one? A proper title.”

She lowered her voice until her lips were almost against his ear.

Her warm breath stirred a shiver across his skin. A strange flush rose over the man’s face, and his Adam’s apple moved.

“Your subordinate…”

Smack!

Qin Wanyi lazily withdrew her hand and leaned back against the sofa. A cigarette rested between her lips, and she looked to be in an excellent mood.

“Get out.”

Pei Younian set down the cake and stood obediently by the door.

Before he left, he vaguely heard several young men asking about the relationship between the two of them.

“He?” Qin Wanyi’s haughty voice drifted over, cool and faintly contemptuous. “He’s nothing but a dog.”

Pei Younian could almost imagine the expression on her face as she said it.

Her crimson lips parting and closing, her eyes half-narrowed, every movement arrogant and beautiful.

He slowly raised a hand to touch his face, a peculiar smile curling at the corners of his lips.

He was indeed a dog.

A dog that could bite.

At that moment, Qin Wanyi suddenly received a photograph.

The background was a hotel room. Jiang Yi wore a bathrobe, the collar hanging loose enough to reveal the ambiguous kiss marks along his collarbone.

Beside him was a woman’s hand, adorned with a familiar diamond necklace.

Qin Wanyi recognized it at a glance. Half a month earlier, Jiang Yi had spent twenty million at auction to buy it.

So it had been a gift for Lin Xiaoxiao.

She ground her teeth. “You’re something else, Jiang Yi.”

Shen Lin had not yet recovered from the shock when Qin Wanyi seized the whiskey on the table and swallowed several mouthfuls.

“Stop drinking! Yibao, what’s wrong with you?”

The fiery liquor scorched her throat. Qin Wanyi endured the churning in her stomach and suddenly raised her voice.

“He’s cheated on me openly. Why should I keep putting up with him?”

“I’m divorcing him!”

After several bottles of alcohol, Qin Wanyi rose unsteadily to her feet.

She had just reached the doorway when—

“Ow… Why is this so hard?”

She covered her aching nose and looked up.

What met her eyes was a man’s sharply defined jaw, a high-bridged nose, and exquisitely sculpted features. His black eyes were deep as a still, bottomless pool, fixed intently upon her before quickly looking away.

“Miss, you’re drunk.”

His tone was as淡淡 as he himself.

Pei Younian had become the bodyguard assigned to Qin Wanyi by the Qin family when he was eighteen.

Loyal.

Protective.

And, most importantly, extraordinarily handsome.

Qin Wanyi’s gaze fixed upon his lips.

They were pale and thin, pressed into a straight line. Paired with that stern, unsmiling face, they made her inexplicably want to pry them open with her tongue and see what he looked like when he lost control.

Probably very wanton.

Thinking this, Qin Wanyi licked her lips and gave him a boldly suggestive smile.

“Pei Younian, come here and kiss me.”

She was always teasing him.

She had never truly treated him as a person; most of the time, she only did it to deliberately provoke Jiang Yi.

Pei Younian had probably guessed what had happened. He did not respond, merely tightening the arm around her.

“Miss, I’ll take you home.”

Her steps were unsteady, and she easily stumbled into his arms.

Pei Younian deliberately leaned closer.

Her soft hair brushed against his face. Its fragrance mingled with the strong scent of alcohol, intoxicating almost enough to make him dizzy.

The next second, immense force suddenly seized his neck.

The abrupt suffocation drew a muffled groan from him.

Qin Wanyi exerted real strength, tugging on his tie as she spoke with inscrutable intent.

“Open your mouth obediently. Understand?”

She twisted the tie around her hand and slapped his face with it again and again.

The crisp smacks sounded like a stimulant. By the time his pale cheeks had been beaten flushed red, desire gleamed in her eyes, and she pulled the tie down harder.

“Mmph…”

This time, she got what she wanted.

The instant their lips met, both of them let out a soft, involuntary sigh.

Qin Wanyi actually had very little experience. She usually only pretended to be bold in front of Jiang Yi, talking a good game without ever acting on it. In reality, she had never even held a man’s hand before.

With no technique whatsoever, she chased his lips, biting and licking. When he sucked hard enough to make her wince, she frowned and tried to retreat.

She pushed at him once, but he did not budge.

Only then did she realize something was wrong.

“Wait… hold on!”

Her wrist was caught. Pei Younian gradually seized the initiative. His kiss was more forceful than hers—and far more tormenting.

Before long, Qin Wanyi’s legs had gone weak. Her mouth was thoroughly invaded, yet the man seemed to have become addicted. One hand held the back of her head firmly, allowing her no chance to escape.

Pei Younian was nearly driven mad. His fever-bright eyes remained fixed on the woman who was almost unable to breathe.

So fragrant.

So sweet.

He wanted more…

He half-carried, half-dragged her into a private room, and Qin Wanyi lost what little resistance she had left.

She collapsed onto the bed, her body limp as noodles.

Pei Younian’s eyes darkened as he bent over her, drawing closer and closer.

But Qin Wanyi’s eyelids grew heavier and heavier. Before the man could press down over her, her head lolled to one side, and she fell completely unconscious.

When Qin Wanyi woke the next morning, her head felt as though it were splitting apart.

She looked around and realized she was lying in an opulently furnished private room of the highest caliber.

“…Pei Younian?” she called.

The room was utterly silent. There was no response whatsoever.

“Could it have been a dream?”

Remembering the erotic, tangled dream from the night before, Qin Wanyi rubbed her temples.

She sat up in bed, only to feel a sudden sting in her lips. Her neck was itchy as well.

While washing up, she deliberately examined herself in the mirror and discovered that not only were her lips swollen and red, there were several red marks along her neck too.

She thought nothing of it, assuming that there must simply have been too many mosquitoes in the summer.

It was only after scrolling through her social feed that she learned Jiang Yi had not been the only one to post photographs the night before. Shen Lin had posted some too.

And they were pictures of her.

Surrounded by men, a cigarette held between her fingers, she glanced sideways through the swirling smoke. Her face seemed to carry an unfamiliar, bewitching allure.

Rather wicked, actually.

Qin Wanyi was instantly delighted.

She was just about to call Shen Lin—and ask how she had ended up on the top floor—when a message from her best friend suddenly popped up.

Are you still at Golden Prosperity? Run! Jiang Yi is here!
