Prologue
"Heh, it's raining..." Through the glass, I watched the rain falling outside, a gentle, continuous patter.
"Piglet Bei..." It seemed as if someone was calling my name. I turned around, but the pitch-dark room was empty, only the biting cold wind slipping quietly through the cracks below the window ledge, creeping over my body.
The screen of my phone glimmered with a faint, bluish light, flickering like a phantom...
"Xiao Bei, I'm sorry..." The long-missed voice still echoed in my ears from the telephone.
"I just... I just wanted you to remember me, remember me forever and ever..." The voice quivered with a hint of sobbing, drifting through the air, broken and intermittent, much like the path my life has traced over these years.
